Dave - I'm well aware of the problem with growing in pots. Actually, all my plants are in pots since I have no ground to plant in where I live. I move them up a pot size each year as they grow but i'm running out of space myself and may have to do as Darren suggests and cull out the ones that don't perform well.
Darren - That's one fine Tahitian Princess and I'm mesmerized by your Scarlet Beauty!!! I've got to get one.
Erny - The winds weren't as strong here but I still had a lot plants blow over. I didn't get them all uprighted until today. Plus, the winds, high heat and low humidity fried a lot of my blooms before I could get photos of them.
Not much blooming today. I had a Magic Crystal bloom that had faded and looked a lot like Tahitian Princess. Also, my mystery pink that I got from Armstrong's three years ago and was mislabeled. It's starting to show the orange edge on the petals that it gets in the summer. Does anyone have an idea what it might be? Also, El Capitolio and hibiscus schizopetalus.

I must be on one heck of a lucky streak this entire winter/spring as there has not been one significant wind event here. I get superstitious though thinking what if I used up all my good luck with the wind events and something else will unexpectedly wreak havoc on my plants. I have a feeling it is going to be a really hot summer here followed by a strong El Nino winter. So we'll see....

Darren - Great looking Dapple Dandy, Valentine's Day and I never get tired of looking at photos of Tahitian Princess.
I came home from work to find my 1st bloom on Queen of Sheba. Photos are a bit dark since the sun was setting. Caught Silver Memories in the morning just after it opened and an evening shot. Also, Miss Congeniality.

With all the heat this past week here come all the pests. I think I am starting to experience a massive spider mite outbreak as I am seeing lots of yellow leaves all of a sudden. Avid just ordered on express shipping! Kontos drench tomorrow if I spot them suckers.
