Nice phtos, everyone!
Erny, I'm surprised that your first bloom from Samba Dancer came on a hot, dry, windy day. Should have been the worst conditions for it. Just goes to show, these hibiscus have interesting temperaments.

Darren, Erny, and Bill, great pics as usual. I hope I didn't miss anyone as I zoomed through them faster than I would have liked. Are any of you running out of space yet? I have and the only solution is to move to a much larger house and lot, financially impossible. I have probably 30 plants more than I have room for and many are being kept in 6 or 8 inch pots which they dislike after a short time. They either don't perform very well or just go into decline. They just can't reach their full potential in small pots. The ones I've moved up to 10 or 12 inch pots are obviously doing much better. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of being able to plant them in the ground here. I envy you guys.
Keep the great pics comin,
dave

Bill you got a lot of them blooming away now! And a great variety of colors - well done!
Dave being out of space is the name of the game! I am taking a page out of Norm's playbook and have started to replace the poorer performers and those with not so exciting blooms with newer, better ones in my opinion. But it kills me to uproot a healthy, dynamic plant and pot it up only to see it go into shock, lose all it's leaves and wait months to see if it survives. Big picture - new blooms much better!

The amount of buds on my Prosperity and especially Simple Pleasures bushes is just insane! It has got to be over a thousand...it is so awesome to see what these bushes can do.

Too bad ER has such a slow growing bush - I love the super bright blooms even if they are minis. They might be high on my replacement list.

Bill, your Silver Memories is magnificent--it's one of my favorites as well. Seeing your Kinchen yellow blooms brings back some regrets for the large plant I removed in my renovation last year. It was an extremely prolific bloomer with consistently well formed beautiful yellow flowers. You're right about the recent weather conditions here in southern California. The hot desert winds--known locally as Santa Anas-- are absolute hell for the hibiscus. All my potted plants blew over and became quite desiccated in the heat. It was useless to keep picking them up as they would just blow over again. Most of my plants are in the ground but a lot of them need to be well staked when the winds are gusting up to 50-60 mph as they were over the last few days. Charlie, it is ironic that Samba Dancer would wait until the conditions were the worst in order to show me a first bloom. I kept waiting for the bud to shrivel up and drop in the heat. Dave, I can empathize about the space problem. I have used up just about all of my available ground space and have had to keep about40-50 plants in pots. I've had the same problems that you describe with the potted plants--many of them just do not do well when kept in a pot for an extended period of time. Eventually I'll have to do what Darren describes and start to cull out the less desirable plants in the ground and replace them with the best of the potted ones. Darren, that Illuminati you showed was outstanding and I think the photos of T. Princess are the best I've seen of that CV. I hope the winds weren't as bad for you as we had here the past few days. A nice bloom on Rodeo Drive today. Also Peanut Butter, Princess Ka'iulani, California Beauty, and Tahitian Queen.
