Bill, that Blue Opal still looks beautiful on day 2. I got two of the nicest blooms I've had on Fire & Ice today. Also Acapulco Gold and Night Magic.

A new bloom on Janys--even brighter than the last two. Also Sea of Tranquility, Winter Lights, and Georgia's Pearl. Also of tropical interest Protea Cynaroides (King Protea).

I am enjoying all the bloom shots this past week. Keep them coming!!!
Wow that heat wave last week really did a number on my plants and set up. It was round two of the yellow leaves with this time a lot worse as in proportion to the intensity of the heat wave. Also I had some break downs on my drip system also due to the heat which I would not have expected.
Actually it is a blessing in disguise as I will be out of town shortly and want these things to happen while here to avoid a disaster when gone. You live and learn!

I have to admit I was surprised to see Splash chosen as HVH Hibiscus of the Year but after the last few blooms I can see why. Large, colorful and no fading in the strong sun.
I've had mine for several years and it never did much under my peach tree in mostly shade. This year I moved it to my front planter on my sidewalk and it is a totally different plant. I think you can say that for most hib plants.

Since the heat wave Cherry Glow has been more orange than red with that pink halo. I just hope to one day see some white spotting like the online store pic. It is potted so maybe that is the problem

Crystal Pink went crazy after the heat wave and had 15 opened blooms at once. All of nice size - I love this plant.
