Everyone is probably familiar with a number of flowers that just don't photograph well and thus never look as good in photos as they do in person. One of these in my garden is Velvet Illusion. Its intense color that is noticeable from quite a distance just doesn't seem to come across in my photos. Perhaps some of this is due to my lack of photographic knowledge and skills. But there are also a few that seem to consistently look more intense in photos than in person. Ruby Tuesday pictured here is a prime example of that . Another that comes to mind is Inner Compass. Also shown below are Cindy's Heart, Space Oddity, Cinnamon Splendor, and Voodoo Queen.

Climax and its prolific bush. And a few more bushes: Daisy Mae, Acapulco Gold, Rosalind, and Rainbow Sherbert.

Paul - Amazing color on the Wow Factor twins!!! Loved Tiger Lily, Night Crawler and Mountain Mist.
Erny - I know what you mean about photos of certain blooms. I can never get Erin Rachel to look good unless it's in total shade. Outstanding Splash bloom and your Hot Cocoa is looking great (love the browns).
Darren - Great color on Rocket Fuel and Cosmic Energy. Really nice to see Fantasy Charm (mine hasn't bloomed since last year).
I guess I'm seeing the three week effect here. I finished spraying for pests at the end of June and I'm seeing a greater variety of blooms. Wednesday had a case of the "blues" here. Magic Crystal bloomed for the 1st time in awhile, 1st bloom on Blueblood, Blue Opal (very reflexed) and Pompano.

Bill you make a good point about the 3 week rule. I am 1.5 weeks into my pest spraying regime and I am only starting to see the positive effects with spotty bud production thus far. It is a bit frustrating as I returned from vacation 3rd week of June so I had to wait about 3 weeks to see what the effects were from being gone. Then I started spraying = 6 weeks minimum of bud production delay.
Next time I will spray before I leave and upon returning from any vacations to hopefully avoid this bloom lull.
On the bright side I got my first bloom of the year today on Sheer Pleasure.

Darren, that's interesting that you just got your first bloom on Sheer Pleasure. I've had mine in the ground for over a year and just got my first bloom (not as nice as yours) a few days ago. I like that Tahitian Christmas and your bushes are looking great. Once they start popping blooms again it should be spectacular.

Thanks Erny!
Don't feel bad about your Sheer Pleasure plant. I've had mine in ground since last spring and this is it's 2nd bloom (first one was also not that great). Mine has mostly struggled until recently when I installed about a dozen low velocity sprinklers in that planter and WOW it has made a world of a difference for all my hibs in my sidewalk planter. Not nearly enough water was the problem for a west facing full sun planter.
Here are some pics of the plant, it is about 4 ft tall and extremely lush with a myriad of branches. As you can see it gets lost rather quickly in the planter as all the hibiscus are growing like crazy.
Also a pic of my Tahitian Christmas plant. The strong sun makes it hard to see but the bush just isn't the same as a HVH one. It is rather open in the middle and the branches are long and lanky to the point where they fall over if not staked. I will be pruning this one eventually to see if that helps with branch strength.

I kept Sheer pleasures because of the interesting array of colors in the blooms. Its not that obvious in the photos (try clicking for a full size pic) but in real life this is a very colorful bloom. Once the plant gets happy it will bloom plenty - at least that has been my experience.

Darren - Great Sheer Pleasure bloom and I really like Tahitian Christmas even if the bush is a bit open.
Today's blooms: Blue Opal flattened out on day 2 (one of my favorites), Caribbean Passion, 1st Spin The Bottle (Cosmic Dancer) this year, Golden Dust and Erin Rachel.
