Happy New Year, everyone!
Below is a photo of Carrot Cake, with 5 open blooms. Carrot Cake flowers run 8-9 inches and has been one of the very best bloomers in the HVH greenhouse all year long and still won't quit. Heavy textured blooms and a nice, lush bush.

Hi Charlie - Happy New Year to you too!
Good to know about Carrot Cake. Are there any other surprise best performers this past year in the greenhouse?

Good question, Darren, but at the moment I can't think of others that performed much different than expected. I'll give it some more thought. Perhaps Typhoon as far as number of flowers - lots!
I noticed that you were Johnny on the spot and ordered some super pretty ones at the opening. I think you will like Sweet Persuasion and Love Sonnet, 2 of my top favorites. Of course, both are oversold for now, but there will be more as soon as possible which hopefully will be late summer.

Charlie - Sweet Persuasion has me really excited since I am a banded bloom lover and that one looks to have five bands of color and in such pretty shades of purple and magenta. Please use it extensively in future crosses if possible!

Got a rare Dynamo bloom today - hopefully 2014 will bring a lot more blooms from her. I did prune it down over half this past yr so I am sure that it was focused on growing more than blooming...

Even though the weather here has been outstanding the last three weeks plus my blooms are showing the effects of winter big time...hey at least they are all still blooming away...

Congrats on snagging a Sweet Persuasion Farmer D! I missed that one by mere seconds. But I got several great new CVs that I am excited about, so I can't complain! Great blooms as well! I haven't had very many blooms since I moved my plants inside for the winter, but I did get a couple on Thursday. A pretty Cranberry Muffin (with a snowstorm outside in the background) and a Fairy Music. Charlie, will we be seeing Winter Wonderland soon? Also very excited about that CV! |

Hi Paul,
Nice photos, showing that warm indoor feel that hibiscus in winter can provide.
Winter Wonderland sold out quickly and I'm not sure if there will be more this year or not. All of these first ones came off of 1 stock plant but there are now 6 stock plants so many more will be available starting next year if not this year.
Best,
Charlie

Nice to see some indoor blooms Paul! Glad you got some nice new CVs. Can't wait to see them show up later in the year....
