John those are tow awesome classics side by side - never get tired of them...as to the conversation concerning AG I don't know how much I can chime in as mine is planted in the ground but in those conditions it thrives on anything. The only time it has not been happy was after being out of town last spring and the soil around it was really dried out. Other than that it is super hardy. Interestingly I also got my mother-in-law one which is potted on her porch. It was doing great in a pot at my house in mostly shade but when I planted and moved it there to a shady spot on her porch it has not been happy with droopy lackluster leaves. Still blooming but not happy. I just moved it to a spot that gets some sun and watered/fed it a lot to see if that perks it up. I'm approaching it like a different plant being it is potted. I must say all the previous conversations on the forum really have helped me be better at problem solving issues like this one...
Chris that is probably the best Janys I ever seen so far. And the Green Elf is just flat out awesome. Really unique and striking!
Today has been a day filled with all sorts of stuff as you'll see in my pics. I'll start with the positives...this is Best of Times and even though it is not mine (lucky in-laws) this first bloom on a plant I just got on Wed blew me away. Looks nothing like the few I've had on my BOT but mine has been slowly adapting to a tough spot to live in (front of air conditioning unit). Charlie you sent me one heck of a plant on this one all full of buds and multiple branches.
AG = 20 blooms, BD = 19, HP = 14, VD = 18, DM = 15 = I'm in bloom heaven here

Now the not so good...
I've never seen anything like this bug if that is what it is. Looks like a land lobster or something - almost as big as my pinkie. I killed it but wonder what I killed - anyone have a clue?
And then there is my Prosperity. I can see it going downhill slowly with no sign of new leafing. I discovered today a bad infection where a branch I and others have stepped on before and at the joint bad news. Purple colored bark = not good! I dug deep trying to save the branch (1/2 the plant) but in the end I played it safe and cut it off. I'd say things don't look too good for her currently. We'll see...

Shame that Darren as it was a beaut, looks to late to take a graft as well. I lost my Hot Southern Nights last month but was in time to take a graft, actually I took 4 and yeeaaa one seems to have worked, haha my success rate is about 20% usually.
What annoys me is that smug git on YouTube who makes grafting look so easy, I swear you need 3 hands to have a good chance.

Mike, congratulations on those two outstanding seedlings of yours. I'm sure we are all looking forward to more news and pictures.
Darren the yard shots just keep getting better and better--looking really lush. Lots of great pictures but for me the Daisy Mae profusion and Palm Springs really caught my eye. On the increased red on Vin Beaujolais, it may be of interest to note that that particular bloom was the first on the back of the plant where it is shaded almost all day. I don't know whether that is cause and effect or just coincidence but will definitely watch to see if future blooms follow a pattern.

Sorry to see that gorgeous Prosperity from last year in such bad shape. I've had a very bad year for plants having lost well over a dozen, some I've had for several years. My losses have to do with after effects of heavy spider mite infestations and the inability of some plants to recover from them. Some of my significant recent losses are Cindy's Heart, Best of Times, Surf City, Shockwave, Fabulous, Rebel Rouser, Bonnie Lass, White Magic, and Torch Song. I've managed to get a few replaced but several are no longer being propagated. At least you'll be able to get another Prosperity from HVH if necessary. Your scary bug is a house centipede. I always enjoy viewing your pics and hope to see some up here soon. Are any of your plants blooming yet? Hang in there it will get better - stay positive as your plants feed off of your vibes... Also thank you for the link on the house centipede. I wish I hadn't killed it now as I like what it eats. In all my years in So Cal I've never come across one till yesterday. John glad to hear your Prosperity is doing well - any buds coming along on it yet? OK back to the positives...Confection Perfection finally gave me a bloom after a long stretch of trying but them buds kept falling off. I decided to not prune my gate (don't I wish) that keeps hitting the poor plant every time it opens and removed it instead. Magically the bud made it...Anyways what a combo CP & CH!!
