Darren, you're not kidding about great colors. Love that T. Antique Purple. Some from today: Heavy Metal--never disappoints Valentine's Day--does it get any prettier than this Living Legend--a huge bloom today Ross Estey showing its pretty pastel colors although somewhat washed out by bright sun.

A few more: Topaz Glory Prima Ballerina Herm Geller Lady in Waiting And for those interested in plumeria, this is Bali Whirl--the only double flowered plumeria; also grows into a nice tree.

Good evening all!
My last week of freedom before school starts....and look what I found this morning. My very normal (store bought) yellow hibiscus decided to bloom with what looks to be a double...and there are several more getting ready to open. The plant is two years old and has always had single 6 inch blooms. I don't know what to make of it!

Erny you're right on about your Valentines Day - just gorgeous! Those yellow rays in your Topaz Glory are really amazing as well. Lady in Waiting has some very nice bright coloring - I always enjoy her pics...
Vicki that is just a fun and bright bloom you have there. I hope to see a bunch of those on your bush one day soon. Is it me or is school starting way too early this year. It is only the 2nd week of Aug, there should be laws against going back to school till at least after Labor Day.
John I love your AG twins - fantastic color and form on those. How has the weather been there down by the gulf? Hopefully the rain has calmed down...

Denise, Midsummer Night looks great in that flower box. Darren, the colors on yours are so vivid I feel I might need dark glasses to stare at them. I'm excited to see buds on my Flickering Flame and hope that they measure up to yours. I planted a ton of hibiscus in June--mostly from 6" pots but a number of 4" as well. Some started budding a few weeks ago and a bunch of them just in the last few days, including Palm Springs, Sizzle, and My Blue Heaven. The only laggards are Prosperity and Rainbow Sherbert. But RS was a 4" plant so I'll cut it some slack. Some from today: Tahitian Princess Tahitian Taui in sun and shade Deep Waters and its bush Sleeping Beauty Erny

Denise I love those blooms especially Midsummer Night - great set up you have created there!
Erny awesome blooms - great to see Deep Waters and wow yours has some really interesting coloring going on with it too. Nice bush shots too - are your plants enjoying the hot and somewhat humid weather the last few days I know mine are?

Darren, I think they are liking the weather in that lots of them are growing well and starting to bud up. But I'm also seeing a lot of bud drop which may be due to a combination of the heat and thrips. At least half of the blooms that do open show the spotting that suggests thrips. I sprayed with Spinosad several days ago and will probably hit them again with it tomorrow. We have to do a "home and home" visit sometime this summer. Email me at ernestncurtis@aol.com and we'll set something up.
