So I unpacked my bounty and re-potted my new additions. I must say that the 6" Scarlet Dragon and 6" Satsuma were bigger than I was expecting! Much taller than other 6" plants I have received in the past! I was on the fence for over a month about ordering Satsuma. I am so glad I finally did. Such a beautiful color! Scarlet Dragon is amazing too!

Photos:
Satsuma and Satsuma Triplets (couldn't get all 3 to pose Wink )
Scarlet Dragon and Scarlet Dragon Twins (took a little push to get them both to pose)
Also blooming today is my Black Dream

Paul, what a nice surprise when you opened that box. Not unusual with orders from HVH.
Had my first bloom on Creme de la Creme and I like it a lot. Also Belle du Jour--back to her normal color and conformation after a winter of solid red flowers.

Hi Everybody  Grin I'm real exited today I had 2 new seedlings bloom , The first one #1 was a cross of Victoria's Touch x Going steady . And the flower looks nothing like eather of the parents . The second one #2 is Simple pleasure X unknown , probably 3 or 4 pollen parents , the bush on this one looks exactly like simple pleasure & that one has a beautiful bush - so does the seedling . Then a rosalind & a saffron witch bloomed in the house so its kind of yellow .

Wonderful Mike, other than Charlies creations I think thats the best seedling I have seen, in fact if number 1 was in the store I think it would soon sell out, great job and well done.

David, Rainbow Sherbert has been steady for me in addition to the ones you mentioned. And Cindy's Heart also.
But I don't think heat is an issue for Erny. In fact I've had more problems with Hot Pepper than the others. I think Darren was right about Hot Pepper. It doesn't like as much water as other varieties.
Acapulco Gold on the other hand loves all the water I can give it.
Strangely enough John my HP does like a lot of water, I think not only does each variety of cv vary but even the same variety as in Hot Pepper can vary, depends on location amount of sun and temperature I suppose. I even have 2 Hot Peppers right next to each other and there water needs aren't the same, that has to be down to the potting mix and its water retention capeabilities, as I make my own its most likely not the same for each plant.

Very interesting what you say about Acapulco Gold, it does love the water, or does it, one of AG's traits is it does go limp after a few hours if its hot[thats been discussed here on the Forum before], and of course give it water and it will perk up, but I wanted to see what happens if I didn't give it water when the leaves went limp, the answer being the same, come 6pm when the temperature has dropped a little and the sun has gone the leaves perk back up. So for the past month I have cut AG's water to once a day [50%less] and have noticed a couple of things, its not quite so bushy and seems to have less leaves but I have seen a large increase in the bud count, its interesting and I intent to keep on experimenting, my goal really is to try and give less water, I have had heaps of problems by overwatering and have lately not been getting the results I expected, so hopefully with a bit of care I can sort it out. Of course vitally important is that I never ever let the cv get stressed, there is a big difference between limp leaves through heat and a plant craving water.

Denise, I just planted Creme de la Creme a few weeks ago and this is the first bloom. So I can't answer your question about frequency. It is a nice large flower though--measured just under 9".

Wow Mike I agree seedling #1 is just beautiful and then some.  How is the bush on that one so far?  Even seedling #2 is quite nice as well.  Congrats you have a some fantastic talent in growing hibiscus.

Norm I like that ADT - it is really prestigious!

Paul you really got my attention with Satsuma.  I never got too excited over it before but that one is a real beauty!

Erny I love the amount of red you're getting so far on Vin B.  I really hope mine will be more like that with the new soil.

Palm Springs continues to amaze and one of the prettiest RS blooms I've had yet...
