Here's a pic of my Cindy's Heart bushes. Two are in 2 gallon pots and one is planted in the ground.

Nice, John. It will be interesting to see how the in-ground one does over the winter in Houston.
Diana, I see that you asked about Cindy's Heart and several other varieties. It is hard to give an absolute answer to the rooting or grafting question. Most varieties of hibiscus will root although the percentage can be as low as 1 percent success. The result depends partly on the genetics of the variety, but also depends very much on the health of the mother stock, the techniques used to do the rooting, and the conditions that the cuttings are placed in before they root.
So, everyone has to experiment and see what works best for them. The benefit of grafting is that every variety can be grafted successfully. However, all the same factors apply - health of wood, techniques used, and conditions after grafting.
Propagating most hibiscus is a challenge, and success will vary from very good to very bad each time you try to clone a plant.
