Root problem

Yesterday i began the task of potting all my plants into 8 inch pots, everything was going fine until i did Voodoo Queen.It was very noticeable and very different from the others in the fact it had hardly any roots,in fact it made we wonder how on earth it was still alive and producing such lovely blooms.
This may be coincidental but at the time i was transplanting i saw a black beetle about the size of my finger nail scurrying about,something i have never seen before.
The problem i now have is  that the plant is in a big shock[all the others are ok] and i am wondering will it recover and being quite big will the roots be able to support it,or should i give it a hard prune ASAP so it wont die or just hope for the best.

David, when we have done root pruning in the past it has sometimes been necessary to trim back the tops as well. The plants tell us by wilting or not and if they do trimming back the top is the safest thing to do. We've also placed such plants in all shade until wilting stops and misted or wet down the leaves several times a day to help provide water to the plant until it regrows some roots and can get enough that way. You can try the shade and misting first but if that does not work after a week then cutting back the tops is the way to go.
