May is here which means its time to bring my hibiscus back out in my neck of the woods after a long winter slumber under grow lights. I have so many plants now that this process goes in phases to get the plants acclimated to the heat and sun outdoors. All 60+ plants will be hand watered and inspected over the next couple of weeks until I can limit leaf burn and determine final garden layouts. Then I'll install all drippers and the process gets much easier and I can sit back and enjoy the show. I usually stake all my potted plants in the ground to avoid tipping, but this year I am digging holes and putting the pots in the ground about 2/3 of the way for many of my larger plants.
I haven't had much time to post over the winter (school and trying to find a new job) so I wanted to share some photos since last year. Since this is the "May flower photos of the day", I hope no one minds

. I will end though with my first bloom in May outdoors, Valentine's Day.
The grow lights do some interesting things to some of the blooms indoors. The first photo is Spring Fever.
