Two of my seedlings popped their first blooms today. Both are crosses of Moorea Silver Storm X Arabian Princess. Chris gave me those seeds about a year and a half ago and I presume they came from the same pod. It is interesting that they should bloom on exactly the same day and also that they look so different from each other. One is also a lot smaller than the other. These photos show both together and individually in bright sun and shaded. I don't know if either will turn out to be a keeper but it is interesting to see the degree of variance one can get with a cross.

Nice color on these. You can see the influence of Arabian Princess, I'm not familiar with the other parent. Keep an eye on them, Erny, if either impresses you I'd like to get a cutting and see how it grows here.
Thanks,
Charlie

Charlie, I thought the colors were interesting. I'll move them up into larger pots and see what happens as they mature.

First bloom on a seedling of unknown parentage. Very striking in person but the photo doesn't fully capture it.

Nice colors and contrast, if you think the seedling's own rootstock is suffienct enough for your own personal gardening, can you just leave it alone and grow it on its own rootstock for good?

Thanks Kyle and Paul. I don't do any grafting so everything i grow has to survive on its own roots.

Those last two seedlings are really nice Erny. Glad you are getting some super fab results. Are you seeing more buds coming on some of the others you have?
Here are some of the seedlings I have liked so far this spring from my garden.

Twin flowers as the first bloom on a seedling of unknown parentage today. Both show good size and form and will bear watching. Also another bloom on the interestingly colored cross of Moorea Silver Storm X Arabian Princess-still small at about 4".

Another flower on the seedling posted above. l like the fact that this small plant has lots of buds and the flowers are of decent size at about 7 1/2" right off the bat. Also the flowers actually look better than they show in the photos.

Here is a seedling I think shows great promise--a cross of Tahitian Little Darling X Tahitian Queen. It is large for a first bloom at 8 1/2" and the thin double bands at the edge give it a different look. Also another first bloom on a seedling of unknown parentage.
