Acephate 97 UP

I am wondering if any one here might be using Acephate 97UP in place of Orthene 97? My local chemcial place is pushing it so I got in place of the Orthene 97 for Thrips. Still use AVID and Kontos but bugs really bad where I live.
Charlie, if you happen to read this might you know the dilution rate?
Thanks!!

Jim, this is the same active ingredient as Orphene, but marketed in a high potency form for farm use. Its a good deal pricewise. As you probably noticed, the label is confusing due to most of it being "per acre" but when used in small amounts you can mix 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of the product into each gallon of water in your spray tank. If 1/2 teaspoon does not get the job done then 1 teaspoon may be necessary. For thrips probably the 1 teaspoon is best.
I don't recommend spraying acephate the same way as other pesticides. It kills everything, including the beneficial insects that you need to help control spider mites. So instead of covering the tops and bottoms of all leaves as you normally would do, spray it just over the tops of the plants and the flower buds.
The other pesticides that you can get online that will kill thrips are Avid and Conserve SC. Avid also is the best spider mite control but to kill thrips needs to be used at the higher dosage shown on the label.
Let me know if you have other questions.
Best,
Charlie
