Also an interesting shot of my super tiny baby Colosseum plant with two buds already. I never would have thought a cutting could put out buds so quickly. If they end up blooming they will be bigger than the entire plant...

John I was thinking of one more plumeria that would be great to start with too. Mary Helen Eggenberger has very large and super fragrant blooms that have similar coloration to Daisy Wilcox. The blooms are very pretty as they swirl like a pin wheel instead of just straight petals. And the petals are very large too so no gaps between them like many other plumeria blooms.
What struck me in person is how lush and full looking the tree can get and it blooms like crazy. I wish my computer hadn't crashed recently as I had a lot of photos of her. I was able to sneak home two cuttings from one amazing tree in Kauai and they are growing like crazy with very large, shiny leaves.
Here's a few pics off the internet but the tree shot doesn't compare to what I've seen. And it seems to do best in dry conditions.

Darren, that one is really beautiful. I'll have to keep an eye out for that variety. I have to be careful or I will get addicted to these just like my hibiscus. I was able to get a 4 tip Celadine this week from someone here in Texas.  |

Wow a four tip Celadine - that is an impressive start. I believe mine was a rooted three tip planted in 2007, maybe two ft tall. You can see how fast it has grown.

Hello everyone. I am a new, but enthusiastic hibiscus fan. I have 12 HVH plants, and am just getting my first blooms. I work out of the country for a month, then home a month. My plants are on an elevated catwalk, and have a drip irrigation setup with a 3/4 gallon fertigator.
My Rainbow Sherberts (2 of them) are bursting with buds. They were bought as 4" plants just a month or so ago.
The Deep Waters arrived as 6" plants in June. The blooms are small but gorgeous.
Tuesday, I will be able to attend my first Hibiscus Society meeting in Houston.

I am more than happy to share, Charlie!  Appassionata has an amazing flower! It lasted 3 days for me. I would have posted day 2 and 3 pics, but we had some very heavy bouts of rain and it really beat the heck out of that bloom. Can't wait for it to bloom again! Welcome to the forum Capt-J. Great pics! I'm sure you will become addicted like the rest of us. Also great pics Farmer-D! That Bridal Path bloom is huge! Also love your Cosmic Gold and Haute Couture! And your Muy Caliente makes me Muy Disappointed that I didn't snatch that cv up when I had the chance. LOL Anyways, some blooms from my collection... Polar Bear bloomed again for me yesterday. I am falling more in love with this cv with each time it blooms. The dramatic color change from when it first opens to the next day just fascinates me. I took a few more pics to show the change in color over time. Also a pic of Sea Spray just after opening. This one has been blooming like crazy! Beautiful! And finally on Thursday received a 6" Wild Grape from the most recent store update. It bloomed for me yesterday, and it looks amazing! I'm sure being in a box for 4 days during shipping has affected the way the colors appeared in the bloom, since it looks very different from other pics on the store and forum. But I hope they all turn out his way. |
