Here is one for today, it is a sport of Torch Song, is it worth trying to propagate? It consistently blooms with Torch song's size and form, but in a pink speckled look. Speckles aren't too common in hibiscus as a sports, so it was a surprise to find this one. This flower almost looks as though there was a knock out of certain pigment synthesis genes, as pistols have changed from being reddish to pure white in this sport. Cool however it happened!

Great photos everyone. My first Sea of Tranquility bloom--somewhat faded as this is day 2. Also Hollywood Starlet, Rocket's red Glare, Rose Quartz, and Love Story. Spring also means the cactus are in bloom.

Chris I think you should always try to cross anything- it is those unexpected weird seedlings that are the best surprises and those strange traits in the genes on this one might get passed along and do more interesting things with maybe other colors and so forth. Saffron & T Orange Rainbow come to mind as unexpected outcomes for their parents...
Erny SOT in my opinion looks best on day 2 if shaded from the sun. Your's looks great! This cv is one heck of a constant bloomer too...
A dazzling SLIH even without all the summer colors and first bloom of the season for T Sunset Glory...

Living Legend, Simple Pleasures, Haute Coutere, Voodoo Magic, and a really nice orchid cactus. The last photo is a climbing rose planted right next to a large hibiscus (Romeo) so that it is probably getting a fair amount of the daily drip watering with fertilizer as well as some spray from Supernova once or twice a week. I wonder if that is contributing to the unusually prolific flowering I am seeing.

Its got to help Erny, I get the same thing happening with my Andeniums, not only the Supernova and Fert but Kontos Spinosad etc as well, now My Adds are fantastic and actually better than my Hibs. Your Rose and Cactus are a sight to see,very nice. Not sure weather adding the Supernova has caused it but my Palm tree has flowered, well its not so much a flower but a huge bush growing out the top of it, I have had it 6 years and I have never seen anything quite like it before. Now I am trying to work out how I can cut it off, the tree itself is very aerodynamic and never flinches in the wind, but with this bush thing on the top I am not sure how safe it will be, as I already get some strange looks having a Palm tree on my rooftop safety is important. |

David, I will be interested to see if there is a detectable difference for my plumerias now that I have had them in close proximity to the hibs for the past 9-10 months.
John, Too Pretty certainly lived up to its name.
Living Legend is almost in a class by itself when it comes to consistently producing perfectly formed and displayed blooms. Also Black Dream, Silver Dragon, Luck Be a Lady, Inner Compass, and a Rum Runner that seems to be growing right out of a bromeliad.

John I totally agree with you, a stand out LL and your AG is starting to get some great color!
Yesterday was a marathon as I continue to work on installing a drip system so hence the late post but definitely worth the effort to get these pics on here as it was the best day of the new season so far...

First blooms of the season for Hot Southern Nights and they are exceptional. They seem to get prettier as the day goes on. The colors are more a uniform reddish orange when first opened then get more defined over the day. Climax does the same thing too.
