John, those are great colors on your Cindy's Heart.
Darren, love that Rodeo Drive. Sizzle looks great as well.
I got a really nice Bright Horizon bloom today. Also Silver Dragon, Valentine's Day, and Angel's Wings. Hibiscus also has some tropical "cousins" and one of my favorites is Protea Cynaroides, also known as King Protea.

Wow great blooms everyone! Mine are starting to ramp up again, so it should be bloom a polooza in a few weeks. Sadly I am going to be traveling for work during that time, hmm need to figure out a good automatic watering system now... Darren you asked about Queen V crosses, and to be honest I would love to put some CDLC pollen on there. I have two buds on my CDLC, so we will see if I can coax some pollen from them. I crossed these two Queen V blooms to Silver Dragon, only to test the potential of SD as a parent. I will likely cross QV to CVs with Rainbow Christie or Moonstruck in their background, with the goal of getting a dark eye and interesting colored seedlings. Fly me to the moon and James Bond fit these criteria. I think I would also like to cross it with Arabian Princess, as that one has great bands of color and form, added bonus of the bush as well. If my IAWL will hold on to any buds I would like to cross it with that as well. IAWL seems to be producing some very nice offspring for Charlie, so I think I am going to try to get more crosses from it this year. If anyone is wanting to grow out some of these crosses let me know!  |

Here's a picture of the same bloom from yesterday. It was a full 9 inches. As you can see it has lost some of it's intensity. Yesterday's pic was taken right after it opened. I would have had another bloom today but winter returned again and we will not even get out of the 50s.
I have been feeding my CH with the HVH houseplant formula. I can really tell a difference using the houseplant formula. The bushes are much more lush and full and are loaded with buds despite the weather conditions being less than ideal. I don't know what Cindy has them put in this formula, but I'm sold on it. Maybe she could start selling it by the gallon.

John, that is a beautiful bloom on your Cindy's Heart today. Your observation on the Houseplant formula makes a lot of sense. I recall that Cindy said there were added ingredients to help cope with the potential problems the plants might face in an indoor environment in smaller pots.
Nightfire bloomed for the first time in months today. Intense colors on Magic Crystal just after opening on an overcast day here. Also Silver Dragon, Flickering Flame, Daisy Mae, and Summer Shore.

Darren, I am amazed at your Acapulco Gold. I wish mine could get to that point.
I am getting a new roof today and had to run out and dodge flying debris to take this picture. I gave them strict instructions not to damage my plants!

John I wish you luck with your plants being undamaged. Just this past weekend I had my water heater replaced and the repair guy even though very nice was manhandling my Confection Perfection which I planted in front of our water valves (lack of space sucks). After letting him know these plants are a fortune to replace he backed off but anytime someone comes on the property...
Finally first bloom of the season for Palm Springs - strangely it has not been too happy this winter/spring...
I was shocked to find significant wood rot on my Bienvenue hiding behind a leaf. This is scary as it is way down low and where the largest branch separates from the main trunk. It is rotted all the way around exposing the inner branch which also looks to have been infected. It looks dry at this point but my sprinklers do get it wet each time so that is a big problem now...
