Grow chamber question

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone is using a grow chamber outside to store their hibiscus in the winter. I live in So Cal so snow is not a problem, but I was worried about some of my hibiscus that are in pots. They are all 6" that I received this season. I was thinking about cutting them back and putting them on my covered porch in a grow chamber type of set up. I was not going to use artificial lighting, but use sunlight during the day but close the plastic cover to keep them warm at night. Will they be OK if I trim them and keep them somewhat protected or should I just leave them. My problem is that they are very tall but not really bushy. I thought if I trim them down, I can fit more into a protected space. I am worried about them dying from the cold weather. Can you guys make a recommendations? Thank you!

I think this is an excellent idea, Gina. You will get bushier plants and they will be more likely to survive the winter with this additional protection. Try spraying them with Supernova at least once a week, too, more if you can manage it.
Some people have strung white, outdoor type Christmas lights inside covers during the winter because even that small amount of heat from the lights can help as does the extra light. This is optional since you have sunlight but is an easy way to increase heat and light.

Thanks Charlie. I will post a picture of my setup once I get it.
Thank you.
