Hibiscus Gardens Around the World

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

This is Katherine in her hibiscus garden in the Dominican Republic.
Her tropical Caribbean island is perfect for growing hibiscus!

This is the hibiscus garden of José and Katherine in the Dominican Republic. Their tropical island in the Caribbean Sea provides ideal growing conditions for hibiscus, and their beautiful garden reflects this. Year round, the average temperatures range from daytime highs around 85°F (30°C) to nighttime lows around 70°F (20°C), with humidity averaging 65%, yearly rainfall of 55 inches (1400 mm), and calm tropical breezes from 0-12 mph (0-20 km/h). What more could hibiscus possibly ask for? If only we could all provide such a perfect mix of growing conditions for our hibiscus!

José and Katherine grow their hibiscus in pots that they can move to display around their swimming pool, patio, in their house, or anywhere they like. Their garden area is a patio and swimming pool, complete with lovely stonework and lush tropical greenery, with hibiscus as the shining stars. Their photographs are so beautiful that they speak for themselves!
