Thanks, Chris. I'm hoping this one will propagate as well in future generations as it did the first couple. Tis a pretty flower and a much better than average bush.

Hi everyone,

I received a Wild Grape plant from HVH yesterday and wanted to share my thoughts.

First of all its a stunning bush, one of the best i have seen. as usual, the shipping was perfect in every way.

the plant had a bud opening when i got the plant and unfortunately my camera was at the office. the bloom opened today and i am pleased with the color and structure of the bloom. the flower was loaded with pollen, more so than normal. i used wild grape as the pollen parent and crossed it  with moonstruck and oh-me-oh-my which had just opened also. i have never seen a bloom that had so much pollen, charlie if you are listening  Grin
what are your thoughts.

there are numerous buds on the plant and i should have some photos in a week or so.

I am very pleased that i was able to get a specimen

Good crosses, Lou! I also brought one plant of Wild Grape into the house where I crossed it yesterday with Blues In The Night and Deep Purple. It did have a lot of pollen as you noted. Should be a good variety for the future.

Below are the photos of the bloom from yesterday- one is slightly backlit and the other in full sun.

Lou and Kristen, thanks for the kind words.

Cindy turned me from being a night owl to being a very early riser. It's a rare day that we are not up and doing something by 4:30.

I would call that her winter dress, Doll. As spring and summer arrive she will put on a white trimmed outfit in a lighter purple color. I only had about a dozen 6 inch pots of Wild Grape this fall and we shipped half and kept half. The ones I have here are blooming like crazy and as a bonus producing a lot of fluffy pollen and appearing to set seed as well. I think I'm going to fall hard for Wild Grape, pretty bush and all.

I pollinated this one with Crystal Pink. Will see if I get a seed pod. Does Wild Grape root easily?

Wild Grape is too new to say for sure but the first go-round using wood from the seedling did root. That should be a good cross, with many color possibilities.

I forgot there was a Wild Grape thread.  The heat seems to shift the color a little bit to a pinkish purple, but other than that Wild Grape has held up very well this week with the temps getting in the 90's everyday. The blooms have all been in the 6 -7 inch range and they hold up all day long even in the heat and wind.

My first or second Wild Grape bloom over the winter.

And a Wild Grape bloom today
