Hi all,

I found one of these plants online and don't know much about it.  Charlie, I know you've grown this cv.  I think I recall seeing some other photos of BV on here as well.  What's everyone's take on this cv?

All I know is that it is a beauty.  But I would love to hear what Charlie and others have to say about it.  I just acquired one myself Smiley

I've had one since 2006.  Good bush.  One of my best bloomers. One of the pics shows a "petaloid" that forms sometimes.

Either I am REAL lucky or this is a tough variety.  My Bienvenue survived being submerged in Hurricane Ike storm surge mixed with gasoline.  We put our hibiscus in the gargage when we evacuated for the storm.  We had 6 full 5gal gas cans in the garage with our portable generator in case power was out when we got back.  18 ft storm surge washed into our town.  We had 4 feet in our house.  Every gas can opened up and mixed with the water.  We lost all but 4 of our Hibiscus.

Bienvenue has grown here into a small to medium size bush that makes very bright and pretty 6 inch flowers. I wouldn't call it a good bush by cutting edge standards but at least it stands up pretty well.

Hi Kristen here is my Bienvenue its about 3 feet tall , then I have another with 3 in one pot . The bush is strong & Charlie is right the bush is not quiet as nice as Simple Pleasure , I let mine grow about 2 feet before cutting the top off thinking it would bud back all over . And like a lot off them it budded back at the top , so it has 3 tops & kinda empty in the middle , I never have problem with bugs on this one or get wilt disease . their are a few of them that never seem to have a lot of problems this is one of them . My one with 3 in a pot I cut the top off about 6 inches from the soil so they would branch out a lot sooner . I don't put it in full sun all day, it will wilt but in the south it's a lot hotter than up north , I keep them under a tree so they get sun for about 4 or 5 hours . this big one is staying in the house for about 2 more weeks it has 2 seed pods on it & the temp. is hitting 100 during the day I crossed it with Simple Pleasure & Victoria's Touch . I don't want the pods to fall off.

Here is my 3 in a pot , work in progress it takes time flowers coming latter ?

here is one seed pod !! to hot outside !!!

Mike is right,  The one that I got had to go in my humidity dome (fishtank) because it wilted when I would put it in the sun.  So I figure it just needed an attitude adjustment.  I will give it another week in there, let it adjust to the happy New England whether.  And move it to a window, then eventually outside.  But I am excited about seeing a bloom.  The photos of it are beautiful!

There were a few in the store a while back but only in larger pot size which kept me from purchasing at that time, tight budget.  I love the flower and would really like to get one.
Hope Charlie will have a few in 4" pots some time.

First Bienvenue bloom for me and I like it a lot.  I was really surprised by the rings of color.  This is a more mature plant I just purchased from HVH so I don't take any credit for this bloom or any others for the time being.

Happy and cheerful colors with a rather orangy-yellow main color.
