Midnight Dream and African Princess

Hi Charlie,

Are these two podmates or did you have multiple CCacao x Midnight blue crosses?  It is really interesting that you got that brown with shimmering gold and FF with both of those seedlings.  Could there be a link between those two traits in this instance?  I think you need to cross those two and find out. (side note: what else can you say about midnight dream and what stage in propagation with that one? ie when can I get my hands on it )

Hi Chris, there are several seedlings that I kept from this same cross. Those are the 2 best but some of the others show similar colors. Midnight Dream is at the stage where I have stock but no extra plants yet. I'll be propagating it this summer and could have some by late fall or it will be in the store Jan 1. It would be very interesting to be able trace some of these characteristics but not too easy to do, eh? I will make that cross when the opportunity permits.

Ah yet another to be propagated   This one is too awesome, and with FF who can say no.

There must be some way to link them up, are you using excel for your crosses and information?  I bet we could plot and maybe look at crosses and probability of different colors, keepers, etc... Might be a fun project for summer. 

I wonder if you have any other pics of African pics, besides the one on the page.  Its been around for a year, so it would be cool to see some other looks.

Chris, we used Excel for years but last year went to a database program for Macs named Bento. It's user friendly and does a nice job presenting the data along with a photo of each variety.

I don't have other photos of African Princess but plan to take a lot more of all the new varieties this summer. I hope we see more posted on the forum as well.
