Hey Charlie,

How is this seedling doing?  Is it still one to watch? Smiley

If we are thinking of the same seedling, the first grafts of it are just coming out of propagation and being potted up. Still be a another year before there are sufficient plants. Here's hoping!

Thats great news!  Its always nice when those grafts take Smiley

Question about its single counterpart, VE, is it a lazy brancher?  Several pseudo branches started growing, but they stopped and now there is just one large branch that is growing.  It had one other branch, but it got wilt (really happy I caught it in time).  So my question to you is should i just snip the big branch to encourage the smaller "primed" ones to grow, or should i just let her do her thing and the side branches will get going eventually.

Chris, I usually force the branching on those like Vin Extraordinaire. But, in the greenhouse in southern CA I get a good response in a reasonable amount of time. I'm not sure about WA - probably not much response and a very long wait for blooms after pruning. In darker and cooler conditions I would be tempted to just let it do its thing for at least a year and maybe 2-3 years before doing some well considered pruning. I look forward to seeing what happens in your situation.
