Dragon Heart

Hi, I am having the same problem that darren had on one of his plants.  i have a nice plant of dragon heart, 2 foot bush with 8 buds half way open, and thats where they have been for the past week. i tried to open them as darren did, but it did not work.  i have a smaller dragon heart that has two blooms, and they  will not open. is it something to with this cv or could i be doing something wrong. they are in the greenhouse with many other plants and no body other than dragon is having this problem.

any help would be appreciated, Charlie?

Hmmm, it might be too hot for them? They are not one of the heat loving varieties. Same with Dragon's Breath, one of the ancestors of Dragon's Heart. You mentioned 100F the other day so I'm thinking maybe move it out of the gh and into the house if you have space.

Louis, I am having blooms on many of my plants right now in the house.  However, the two most recent blooms from Voodoo Magic have not opened all the way.  They open on one side, but the other 2 1/2 petals are curled in.  I am thinking it is just the cv having issues with less light?  Maybe VM likes more sun hours, and maybe the same with your DH?

Just curious, how many hours of sunlight do you get in CT these days? We're up to 10.5 hours from sunrise to sunset here in southern California.

hi charlie,

the sun makes it appearance in the greenhouse about 10 am and sun will be in the greenhouse all day till sunset which is now about 5 PM.

on a sunny day, i would say that we get about 6-7 hours.

the temp in the greenhouse never goes below 75 degrees, and i take what i can during the day,

as we speak, its 98 degrees with the fans going.

the plants never seem to mind the big swings in temperature.

this supplemental heat also heats my house on a sunny day, which now  is about 73 with no heat on.

Better take plenty of Vitamin D, Chris, you're not getting what you are used to naturally via skin production!

Amazing how good your blooms are, Louis, with such a short day. It's good to hear that you get some extra compensation for heating the greenhouse this winter!

Lots of Vit D fortified milk for me these days!  What is amazing is I just looked at my Raindrop, and it is producing buds!  It has not had any direct sun in weeks, came back from cold damage and is now making buds!  P's purple produced offspring that does not care about having sun to bloom and scoffs at cold temps.  I think you achieved excellent vigor in this plant, now if we could get the same vigor with larger flowers...

I get my Vitamin D via Ice Cream and the cream in my coffee!!!  Those two things make the world turn!  Chris, great to hear about your comeback.  You are talented with your plants, and saved them with your wits!
