Lynette, you don't by any chance have problems with thrips going on right now do you?  I've been dealing with thrips for the first time this summer, and have found that they often cause flowers to develop small or deformed with off colors if the flower actually does manage to open.

Lynette, I don't have anything else to offer other than possibly something nutritional but the bush sure looks nice!

Hi Lynette,

Thanks for the photos. Has this plant ever had a normal flower of Belle du Jour? Looking at the many photos I have of Belle I was about to conclude that it always has orange staminal pads while your photo shows yellow pads. But then I came across a cool photo (below) of a Belle with a hand in the shot to show the size and that bloom has yellow pads. Some hibiscus can show either yellow or ornage while others are always orange or always yellow.

Are you coming to another Open House this summer? If so, why don't you bring the Belle down so I can see it and possibly swap it out for you. Just let me know in advance so I can try to have another plant on hand.

Charlie
