I had to give props on this one. Even my wife who has become use to my ever growing hibiscus collection, noticed this one from a far. It screams for your attention that is for sure. It really needs natural light to 'glow' like it does however. Bring the flowers inside and it loses the effect. Nice job on this one Charlie.

Thanks for starting this topic, Len. Confection Perfection has earned a spot in hearts and gardens since it started shipping this spring. It does everything pretty well and the colors are to my eye rather delicious. I need to take new photos of it this year but here is one from last summer.

Heres a pic of our first CP bloom about a week ago in the Great White North! We really loved this one too!

Charlie,
We are located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The pic was taken early after the flower opened. I think the colors muted slightly as the flower aged but it remained very colorful until it folded.

I knew that, Ian, but didn't recognize the forum ID as yours. We've also shipped some plants to Alaska this year so was wondering if that was the locale. Anyway, I always like to hear from the intrepid growers of the far north who grow tropicals in a distinctly non-tropical envirnoment!. Kudos to you!

I LOVE THIS CV!!! This was my first two blooms ever for my little CP plant and boy did they bowl me over. The early morning blooms were pretty and a more solid pink/fuscia with a small orangy-yellow edge.
By afternoon I was amazed to see a beautiful white eye and rays emerge and the yellow border grew in size. Just magnificent! What an eye catcher and a great color combo. My wife said it looks like a big stick - sounds good!
This plant has the extra duty of covering up some unsightly pipes eventually so such awesome blooms will definitely distract the observer for sure.

These are beautiful, Darren. Confection Perfection is one of my favorite cvs, too. Although the bush starts off small it grows into a fantastic, multi-branched, very compact bush. The ones I have in 5 gallon pots are so nice I'm having a hard time bringing myself to cut them up to make more plants for next year.

I ordered Confection Perfection this past Spring. I had trouble with buds forming and dropping, but finally got my first bloom September 1, 2011. It was amazing! I can't pick a favorite of my collection, but this one is definitely breathtaking!

Very pretty, Denise. We named it Confection Perfection because, well, the flowers looked good enough to eat!

Confection perfection has been blooming well for my mom, she is really enjoying her birthday present I think the cutting I got last year was a dud, the 1 gallon Charlie sent was a monster and blooms almost everyday, glad I gave this one another chance.

Now that I see the bush photos from just a few months ago I am impressed with the recent growth. I have two bushes, the other is the most right one coming up the driveway plants

Another one of my top 10 all time favorite cultivars. The colors on the blooms are so happy and yummy looking I want to eat them! So Confection Perfection has a compact growth habit which is amazing. It likes to grow vertically with very strong branches that are lush with beautiful, waxy super green leaves. This plant is probably the best one out of hundreds I have as far as how it responds to pruning. I'll let it get 6-7 ft tall and then prune it way down to 2 ft. It then comes back the next growing season with tons of strong new branches that fill up with buds.
It blooms all the time and you can see the blooms way down the street. They totally pop against the dark green foliage. You have to baby this one when it is a young plant but once it gets going watch out. It loves to be pruned so you can really sculpt it into any shape or space you might find that is constrained.
Just look at those colors, how can you not be instantly uplifted by those magical colors? And the blooms are really big too - if I were to imagine the atypical hibiscus people dream about this is it. Some smart country should put it on their flag. I'll start a new one, the Hibiscus Republic!
