Well, I am a list person and I think it would be useful for those of us interested in hybridizing to have a list of known seed-setters.  The concept of this thread is to post your collection, listing who you know will surely set seed, and those who won't.  Anyway, if we fill in each other's blanks we will have an even bigger list!  Thanks in advance for everyone's help.  Charlie of course you're the omnipotent one on this but maybe we can help you discover which new cvs will set seed.   Cheesy

**A note or two--  Some of these mentioned will be newer cultivars and probably not yet explored.  As we learn more we can come back and modify our answers.  Also, "no" really isn't entirely definitive because one can't prove a negative but go ahead and put "no" if you'd bet your right kidney that the cv won't set seed.  Also feel free to correct any boo-boos you notice in the lists.

So here's my current collection with yes, no, ? in regards to ability to set seed.

Silver Memories - ?
Creole Lady - yes
Space Oddity - ?
Sunkissed Blonde - no?
Blue Ballerina - yes
Butter Cup - ?
Night Runner - ?
Chariots of Fire - ?
Voodoo Magic - no
Acapulco Gold - no
Hot Pepper - ?
Sleeping Beauty - ?
Illuminati - yes
Splash! - ?
Burnt Saffron - ?
Black Dragon - no
Tahitian Princess - ?
Stormy Rainbow - ?
Heartbreak Hotel - ?
Heavy Metal - ?
Confection Perfection - ?
It's A Wonderful Life - ?
Saffron - yes
Creme de la Creme - no
Haute Couture - yes
Island Girl - no

Hey Jordan,

In my experience with the CVs you have:

Sunkissed Blonde did not set seed for me, but did have good pollen

Illuminati did set seed

Haute Couture also set seed

Belle du Jour is another one that is a good seed setter.

I'm just getting back to the forum after preparing for and hosting the Open House yesterday. We had a nice turnout and met some of the forum members in person. It was a fun day, despite fighting a cold Cindy brought home from our local elementary school a couple of weeks ago.

Jordan, there is still more to learn about some of these cvs you have. But so far what I have observed is:

Silver Memories - yes but only on the mildest of days, overcast and 70F for instance
Creole Lady - I've not tried her but you say yes
Space Oddity - not so far for me but SO has good pollen
Sunkissed Blonde - I haven't tried yet
Blue Ballerina - yes
Butter Cup - not so far but pollen is good
Night Runner - needs the gentlest of conditions for seed setting or for making pollen
Chariots of Fire - yes
Voodoo Magic - not so far for me, but sometimes there is good pollen
Acapulco Gold - not so far for me, but excellent pollen
Hot Pepper - yes, good seed setter
Sleeping Beauty - not so far, but can use pollen
Illuminati - you say yes, I haven't tried it
Splash! - haven't tried it yet, too new, but will because I like a lot of the qualities of this one
Burnt Saffron - can't wait to try it
Black Dragon - no but pollen is good
Tahitian Princess - haven't tried
Stormy Rainbow - ?
Heartbreak Hotel - not so far for me but pollen is good
Heavy Metal - I can't recall getting seeds which most likely indicates it does not set, but worth a try
Confection Perfection - too new but will try it soon
It's A Wonderful Life - too new but will try it soon, too
Saffron - yes
Creme de la Creme - no
Haute Couture - yes
Island Girl - not sure, worth a try

Anybody who wants to share results of crosses, we'd love to hear.

OH Charlie thank you for the list!  That's perfect!  I won't be able to try until fall because it's really hot and sunny here now, but will try a lot of your newer ones and let you know what I find.  Thanks for taking the time to do that!

I will get down to SD for an open house one of these days... I'm thinking next summer.  Guess I should rent a Uhaul for the ride back, lol.

Jordan, we'd love to have you come some time. It's always been a pleasant surprise for us where people come from when they show up at an Open House. Most are from southern CA but northern CA and Arizona are frequently represented. San Diego is a destination for vacations, cruise ships, etc so other people even from other countries have dropped by on Open House day. Fun for all of us. A man and his daughter who came last year from Saudi Arabia (US diplomat) wrote to say they will be coming by again this summer. It's one of the reasons we look forward to the Open Houses.

I'm hoping for next year, maybe.  I figure SD is about a 5 or 6 hour drive from here... just having moved to CA 5 years ago, I've never been to SoCal other than on a business day trip.  I think we will definitely make a week or two out of it.
