Is this flower as bright as the picture?  That color combination seems almost unreal, hot pink and a lavender eye!  I would also like to know how you would rank its growth habit and how prolifically it blooms compared to your other hybrids.  Its parents seem like they are more uncommon CVs, so it would be interesting to hear what traits this one inherited.

Ruby Tuesday is very bright and intense, a trait it got from both parents. Geronimo's influence can also be seen in the eye zone which is metallic looking. Vin Extraordinaire is itself super intense and that is a quality I hope will pass on to some of its offspring. In this case it seems to have done so quite well.

The brightness of the photos depends a lot on the computer and monitor and software that you are viewing them on. Generally speaking all Mac flavors will show them brighter than most Window setups. Internet Explorer on both Windows XP and Vista is duller but since this is the most common setup Cindy tries to optimize the photos for viewing on IE. If you have a better than normal graphics setup or use a Mac the photos show as slightly brighter than they should. This is necessary so that they show half way decent in the IE browser that the majority of people have. We have 3 Macs and 3 Windows based computers and try out the web site in all of them to determine the best way to show the graphics on the HVH site.

That is very interesting about Ruby Tuesday.  I looked on the IHS website and it looks like its eye and flower form is reminiscent of Geronimo's parent Teriyaki.  Is this one variety that makes lots of wood and will be readily available, or is it going to be a bit more uncommon because of limitations of propagation.  (Jewel of the Nile, Vin Extraordinaire)  Cheesy

No, once it gets going Ruby 'Tuesday should be available. It's growth habit is upright and its fairly vigorous so there should be ample wood in a year or so. You're right about Teriyaki. I haven't seen it for several years and pretty much forgot about it.

Thats great to hear.  I am going to try for a 4' pot of this one then.  For the more virgorous varieties I have found that you can get blooms almost as fast from these 4' pots as the 6' pots.

Any 4' in the pipeline?

Yes, plus a few grafted versions of Ruby Tuesday are on the way. Grafting is often the fastest way to increase numbers when there is limited wood, if the labor (time) is available.

Yes, if all goes well. I love that flower and wish it propagated better.

Oh man, Ruby Tuesday being difficult like both parents!  Ive missed this one 2 times, and it was after I completed my order online.  What is the probability of missing a CV by one person two times?  Tongue

This is not one on my want list, it's on my need list...  Charlie, since it is difficult to propagate, does that mean that it is a difficult bush over all?  Or a decent plant that grows well but just slow to root?

Well, I just cut wood this morning and will be grafting Ruby Tuesday this afternoon. The bush is OK, upright with medium vigor but the wood does not get real hard and it tends to rot when stuck as cuttings. Could be I just need to wait longer but at a certain point longer is too long! I'm just hoping the grafts do better which is entirely likely. Today I'm also doing Denim Revolution, Geronimo, Maid of Honor, and Ice Storm.

Charlie, how are the grafts doing that you took on January 5th?  I have been wanting Ruby Tuesday forever along with Denim Revolution and Maid of Honor.  I looked up Ice Storm, but you do not have a lot of info on it.  Could you tell us a bit more about that one.  It is quite a looker.

Also, given the space issue a lot of us have, and not wanting to get too many that are similar, would you advise against Denim Revolution if I already have My Blue Heaven?  As well as Maid of Honor if I have Cindy's Heart?

When is a Ruby Tuesday not an entire Ruby Tuesday?

I have a Ruby Tuesday that I have had problems getting to grow, it was stubborn, then it got real spindly. I made the choice earlier this summer to cut it back to try to get better growth out of it. It helped somewhat, but it's still not really pretty, still has uneven, spindly growth, but something interesting has happened now that it has started blooming. Not the whole plant is a Ruby Tuesday. There is a small part of the plant that has normal leaves, and that small spot of growth bloomed yesterday with a beautiful Ruby Tuesday, I didn't think to take a picture of yesterday's bloom, that was before I saw today's bloom. Nothing like yesterdays! I knew the buds looked funny, but didn't know why until today. The top picture is of the entire plant, then today's bloom, then the bit of the plant that is different. I've never had a plant like this, what causes it?
