Valentine's Day is one of those varieties that is best seen in person. The boldness of the bloom shouts out across the garden or greenhouse. The unique combination of reds and pinks with a big dark eye is truly eye catching. The big 8 inch blooms are almost always well formed and presented on the bush. Its' pedigree is sound, High Voltage x Flash Dancer (The Path x Sun Shower) - all large flowers with vivid colors. We finally have a good supply of this fine cultivar, and I hope to hear from some others of you who grow it elsewhere in the coming year.

I also bought Valentine's day for my bf's mother since she was born ob V-day. I will most likely grow this one out for her so she can plant it in the ground.

Kerry, a good strong one is on the way to you. For better or worse it has a few buds at the top. The question is - can you make yourself prune it or will you wait for the buds to open? It won't really matter as long as you prune it sometime before winter sets in.

For me Valentine's Day is a reliable rooter. It isn't fast to do so but it gets there eventually.

Yes, it's one of the reliable ones. A few new photos of it are below.

I am about to prune mine.  Along with my other CV's some need a pruning badly.

It is such a reliable bloomer in my climate. It dominates the greenhouse when it blooms.

Valentine's Day yesterday. Unrecognizable, but still attractive.

My goodness - what temperature and other weather changes can do to hibiscus flowers!

Watch for the article in our next newsletter about the biochemistry of flower color change. Cindy researched and wrote it and it's excellent, says a proud DH.
