Charlie, have you grown this one?  The few pictures I've seen of the bloom are really pretty.  Does anyone else have it?  What do you think of it?

I have a small grafted plant of this one, but haven't seen the flower. Some of the photos out there of Cherry Cola look to be software enhanced but you can get the idea by muting the colors. OTOH I found a photo from a FL grower's web site that shows it looking very different than the enhanced one, so I don't know what the actual flower will be like. Ahh, I found another photo that is also different but probably more realistic of the opening colors of the bloom. It sure does have a lot of looks. How it may fade is another question. Anyway, all 3 looks are below.

Charlie I think you can rule the 2nd picture out for being a look for cherry cola , I have seen this picture when I google cherry cola but you can see the WB ( white balance) is off this is why the flower looks more yellow brown and so does the background.

Cherry cola looks like Butter Pecan in some pictures to me

Here are some more pictures I found

I will be interested to see how this one does for you ,Charlie.  I like the bloom from what I've seen online, but know nothing about the bush and I have already learned that "hibiscus fraud" unfortunately not only applies to seeds!  (that's why I come here and ask about obscure cvs)  Tongue

I have spoken to a woman named Uda (she has the Hibiscus Wunder website, we are friends on Facebook, really nice woman)  I asked her what she thought about this cv.  She said that the first time it bloomed for her it looked like the one in Charlie's first photo.  The really cool one.  But that was the only bloom that she got from her bush that looked like that.  All the rest were brown and mostly red so she gave the cv away, as she does not like reds.  She lives in Germany if that makes any difference in the way it grows.  I think Germany would be similar to Connecticut for me.

Jordan, I was super interested in this one by looking at all the photos online too.  But what Uda said kinda made me pump the brakes a bit Wink

Charlie, how has the flower looked for you on your bush in CA?

I haven't seen it bloom yet, still waiting....

Interesting comments from Uta. Cindy is friends with her, too.

Kristen, I still like the look of Cherry Cola, if that is indeed its look!  The first and last photos Charlie posted are my two favorites.  Maybe it could have this bright coloration with booster... which does make a huge difference in richness of color in my experience.  If you haven't tried the HVH booster, you should... bigger flowers and brighter colors!

Charlie you'll have to let us know when it blooms.  Smiley

Jordan, I do use the booster, and I agree.  It does make a huge difference.  I would love to get my hands on a CC despite what I have heard.  If I can get a bloom that may even come close to the color of the first photo, then Im in.  And if it doesn't, then maybe it can make some really cool crosses.  Either way, I was just saying what I heard from someone who grew it in Germany.  I don't know if the growing conditions there make it do what it did for Uta, or if it was just the particular plant she had.  But when we have one available, I'm on it!
