Charlie, It sounds like an awesome new CV. I remember reading that its parents are splash and saffron. I haven't seen splash before, is that also a new one to be released? I also find golden dream pretty interesting, it looks alot like crimson ray, but with WDs cool speckling. It looks like that one will be a good one too  |

Delayed reaction, but HBH looks really good in those pix! Here's that Delta Dawn photo I promised of the faded bloom. The bloom stayed open for two days, and faded a bit more on the second day but I didn't get a picture of it.

Charlie, those are great pics and I love all four, but my two faves would be Firestorm and Jewel of the Nile.
Kerry, those are beautiful photos of Heartbreak Hotel and Wild Dream. Two more I gotta have. I think I need to stay away from this forum. The wish list just keeps growing. LOL
Lisa, I'm envious of the space you have for your plants and your bushes are so nice and full. I wish I had more room though it's probably better that I don't. My plant addictions are already out of control.
I also collect daylilies and miniature roses, over 100 of each. I made the mistake of getting on a daylily forum where they posted lots of photos and my collection tripled in one year. At the time I already had about 40 cultivars. Yikes!

Only a couple of blooms today. The first is Rosalind finally as a double. The second bloom we are calling Happy Days, but I'm not sure that is correct.

Hi Dave,
What is the flower size of the presumed 'Happy Days'? This photo does not really look like Happy Days but if the flower is big, like 7 inch or larger then I would say it is not Happy Days almost for sure. This one seems more like Hotwired - notice the High Voltage like eye with the red bleed out from it? Since Hotwired is a High Voltage sport this would be an indication that it is Hotwired. Happy Days is usually extra vigorous, and would be among your largest plants of the same age. If it's not, that's another indication for Hotwired.

Charlie all of those new seedlings look great i bet firestorm would get lots of attention from hummingbirds  Here is a very yellow Heartbreak Hotel I forgot to post this  another HH sun directly hitting it  gator pride trying to recover from thrips  I never post this pic but look how cinnamon girl matches the cardboard on the second day of being open.  |

What surprised me is that I would expect that to happen in the warmest weather but I don't think your temps are all that warm. I wonder if it is more of a reaction to the fertilizer. Interesting, anyway.

I know charlie ! I only had one bloom that was almost solid. The rest just keep blooming with great splotching even though my weather has been hot at all. I do notuce that being on the 3rd floor has some benefits. I notice a lot of times in the morning ( on the warmer days) that is very humid up here. when I get downstairs to go to work I do not feel the same humidity. I know heat rises so maybe this is why I feel a big difference. Or it could be humid up on my balcony because of all the pots that are moist and the water is evaporating ? |

HH looks great! its been about 2 weeks since anything has bloomed, kinda sad  Its because I have all 4 inch sizers, next year I am cross my fingers will be good, as my plants will be more mature. I also hope that my seedlings planted this year will bloom |

Hi Chris,
That first year is the hardest, waiting for the new ones to grow enough to bloom. After that everything is in a sort of flow with some blooming and some growing. Good luck with the move. Sure hope you have some good windows!

Hi Charlie, The flower size has been very consistently between 6 1/4" and 7", never over 7" so far. The bush is a fairly vigorous grower but not crazy vigorous like Pina Colada or Apaculco Gold. It is 42" tall including the 10" pot it's in. It was purchase late July of last year in 4" pot size. The plant was about 6" tall. This is one we've exhanged emails about before. Originally Cindy thought it might be a seedling that got shipped accidently because of the label. The preprinted side read Pina Colada. That was scratched out and on the other side was written Passion Play which is what I ordered. It is neither. Happy Days and Hot Wired are the two I thought it resembled the most also, but neither one seems to be quite right. The color isn't right for Happy Days and the yellow is a little paler than your photos of Hot Wired and the blooms have never gotten over 7" It seems to have more ruffling that Hot Wired. I really like it whatever it is. It is one of my most consistent bloomers and the foliage is really beautiful. I'd really like to put an accurate name on it. The attached photo of it is a couple of days after moving it up from an 8" pot this week. dave |

Hi Dave,
After studying the photos of all 3 plants, it seems to me that yours is Happy Days. The bush photo also is consistent with Happy Days. Additionally, Hotwired is rarely if ever less than 7 inches so Happy Days is the best fit. In fact, your photo of the mystery cv and my photo of Happy Days are almost identical except for the shade of yellow. I think that can be explained by the different conditions they were grown in. I've posted both Happy Days and Hotwired below. I cannot think what else that is grown at HVH that it could be.
