'The Color Purple' is a cross of 'Midnight Blue' with 'Kirk's Purple'. It looks most like Kirks Purple but more intense. Midnight Blue has a beautiful flower but sprawls a lot which was corrected in The Color Purple which is very nicely upright. It is a graft only cultivar and I have not grafted it lately but it's on the list to do sometime this year. It blooms a lot on a tall and slender bush and makes a good houseplant. The only seedpods I've gotten on it have been in the most mild winter conditions.
