Well, I didn't see this topic yet, and I am unaware if I am allowed to make it, so if not, delete please, and sorry.
But if it is ok.....
The first flower on my Golden Gate came finally. Only took me 7 months hahaha
Second picture is of California beauty in august, and the third photo is of it now, roughly 60% the size and completely yellow so interesting

That's so amazing in the fluctuating colors kyle. That is one of my favorite things about these plants, amazing how God allows things hahaha, and yes the El Nino, is a blessing. Also, I wanted to see where you reside, but "but I can't view just anyone's profile" haha I'm in michigan. Also because of your extensive collection, have you tried breeding?

I live in NE Ohio.
Hybridizing is not really my thing but I seem to always have a few seedlings growing. It's more about the learning experience for me right now. I prefer to have Hvh do the hybridizing because I don't have the space, resources, and it's really hard to get that 1 out of 100 show stopper bloom. I prefer not to disturb the plants blooming cycle and don't want any energy going to seed pods.

Better late then never...here's a few of my last blooms during Dec. In my neck of the woods, blooms are hard to come by this time of year so I usually rely on you west coast and international guys to get my hibiscus fix during the winter so please keep the posts coming! This weekend I plan on mixing 3000k HO bulbs to the usual 6500K bulb T5 lighting setup I have going year round to hopefully induce flowering during this gloomy time of year on the east coast.
Sea of Tranquility day 1 and 2, Girl Next Door, Silver Lining and a quick shot of some of my pruned bushes under the T5's over December. This crop of plants have been sitting under T5 lighting since I brought them in since mid to late October. So far (and I hope I'm not jinxing myself here) pests have been kept to a minimum indoors this winter with regular monitoring and spraying when needed, and the lighting has been doing a good job of providing new growth. Hopefully these plants can begin to hit the ground running once I bring them out late March to mid April.

David your plants are looking fantastic! You are taking very good care of them.
Here are a few shots of my plants as they make it through winter. I am amazed at how incredibly well they are doing. No matter the temps, weather or sun angle they just continue to flourish and bloom. No yellow leaves or bud drop. The most interesting conclusion I have come to this past year is that once established in ground exotic hibiscus are drought tolerant. They really don't want any additional water aside from what they are getting from my drip system with fertilizer injector. Just three times a week at 6 minutes per session....
And oh yeah - I don't see anyone else's landscaping here in Southern California looking like this or blooming away with such a diversity of colors. These plants are amazing!!!!
