Hey everyone, or no one if this topic doesn't get viewed, I was wondering if this is the correct  name for this. The hospital  is teasing me, and brought this hibiscus  in the building. The name is Hibiscus  barb, was wondering if that is correct. Never seen such a massive base. Oh, and regarding me. My plants are doing wonderful, in fact Valentines  day, is going to bloom in 4 days or so, how odd for this late in the year. As well as Golden  gate. Lila has no signs, but nonetheless  I am happy for what I got. And Charlie,  I hope you see this, wanted to inform you that I managed to successfully cross your California  Beauty, with the traditional red tropical.
It has been well over a month, seed pod still developing.

Hi Brandon,

Congratulations on the seed pod - should ripen in a few more weeks.

I've not heard of Barb before, but this is clearly an old style garden variety hibiscus that has probably been named many different things by each nursery that propagated it over the decades of its existence. They never bother to register the names they make up in the world wide hibiscus database so confusion will always be there with many of the garden varieties.

I'm glad your plants are doing well. I saw a Golden Gate today that was close to 10 inches across!

Yea the grenhouse  manager at the hospital  said the plant was donated from a couple who could  no longer  take care of it.m It is over 20 years old !

And my Charlie, must I say, I sure know what spider mites  are. 3 times have I given them a shower as well as Bayer  3-1. I pretty much sanitize myself  before I enter my room. Crazy how south things can go so fast.
