Thanks to Bill and Darren for sharing all their photos and keeping the hibiscus interest alive during the bleak winter months. So many of the cvs revert to plain red or other simpler color patterns in winter. Darren, I was struck by the normal vibrant color on your Scarlet Beauty. Rodeo Drive seems to also keep its normal pattern better than most. I took a few photos today of some of mine that show more normal colors in winter. One of the best is Summer Shore. It just keeps putting out profusions of flowers all through the year. The bush isn't the greatest but I can overlook that because of the quality and quantity of its flower production. Others that are still looking good in winter are Rum Runner, Simple Pleasures, Angel's Wings, and Tahitian Sophistication.

Daisy Mae might be the most consistent prolific bloomer I have. Also looking good at this time are Illuminati, Valentine's Day, and Confection Perfection.

Erny you make a good point about the colors in winter. I have seen pictures from Hawaii during this winter of many HVH blooms and they even do it too - not as much but to the point where the blooms don't even look close to the same.

Darren, I'm glad to see that the chicks survived the worst of the storm. We had such high winds today they may have blown the nest out of the bush. It felt like gusts of 50-60 mph at times. Great look on your Prosperity.

Darren - Great to see that the hummingbird chicks are safe. I was worrying about them with all the wind (33 mph gusts) and rain (nearly 2" here so far). Your Prosperity blooms are outstanding.
Erny - Great photos. Summer Shore looks fantastic. I have a small one that I hope will be blooming this summer.
Some blooms here this past week before the rains.

Nice 8" bloom on Tradewinds this week and a large bloom on Kuk Sool's Iron Butterfly (what a crazy name).
