Nina or anyone, I've had a few reports from people who have said that Magnifique did well for them for 1-2 years and then went into decline. I'm wondering what other people's experience has been with this variety. When it is doing well, it blooms a lot and the flowers are very colorful but if it is a short lived variety we need to know this. My own plants of it have not thrived over time but I am hoping to hear from a wider selection of people growing it in different situations.

Charlie i am not to sure what you mean by decline, my Magnifique must be 2 years old now and the bush is very healthy, the major problem i have is the buds wont open, but i have been putting that down to higher temperatures, i have tried it in the shade but still had no luck.
I also have a graft of Magnifique [my only ever succsess], that also is a healthy bush but i have only ever had one bloom open.
I am going to follow Dave's advice and go and have a good talk with them this morning.

Grafting might make a difference, it depends on what the problem is. It could also be more sensitive to cold than some others which would explain David's Magnifique in Vietnam doing well - no cold winters to come back from.

I'd like to add, that my Magnifique bloomed enough well this winter (our winters in Ukraine are coooold  ) It stays on a heated windowsill. All is beatiful in it- leaves, stems, behaviour... Look at my baby's winter blooming: |
