Very impressed with the first bloom of Island Queen.  I am not a big fan of doubles but this is a bundle of bright fun!  I can only imagine what this plant can look like with four or five of these blooms at once...

I have to give Island Queen a lot credit for blooming on our porch that has been 100F plus most days this sumer. One day when  it hit 110 and we had 2 blooms on this bush. Very impressive for any hibiscus - even more so for a double flower.

That is interesting you mention IQ having such heat tolerance.  My 2 gallon I planted in my sidewalk planter which gets hot afternoon sun and it wasn't happy there.  Flopping and wilting leaves so I dug her up and planted the 6" one there and it seems very content.  I wonder if the younger ones have more flexibility as maybe they haven't had as much time to become as adept to their surrounding conditions?

Here is a pic of the one I pulled out - looks very happy in the shade!  Going to mom's as her bday gift.  She loves doubles...

Now I am getting some of my first IQ blooms that have fully developed here.  My 6" plant is doing great in my front sidewalk planter that gets intense afternoon sun and heat with a brick wall directly behind her (not the one in the previous post).  The result is bigger and more colorful blooms - just gorgeous IMO!  Two morning pics and two afternoon pics.
