Hi Charlie,

I would really like a good solid blue CV, and I have them narrowed down to Denim Revolution and My Blue Heaven.  How would you compare the color of the blooms, bush and overall hybridizing potential of these two CVs.  A bit speculative with these two being so new, but it would be nice to hear your opinion Cheesy

The snow in May looks like it killed many of my CVs, but there is now room for new ones Tongue

Thanks again!

Good question, Chris. My Blue Heaven has a more intense blue color that is very attractive to me. Denim Revolution is less bright but the blue is also quite pleasing. Which color one prefers is a personal choice. My Blue Heaven comes from Nightfire, which is where the intensity of color comes from. The main drawback is that both Nightfire and My Blue Heaven are usually one day flowers. Denim Revolution can last for up to 3 days and is slightly larger than My Blue Heaven. Both have good bushes but My Blue Heaven has a very pretty bush with glossy leaves and so far seems slightly more vigorous. My Blue Heaven roots better which is a big deal for me, but maybe not for everyone.

So, it's a mixed situation, some good points about both that are worth preserving in future hybrids.

Thanks alot Charlie for your comments!  I really like both alot and it will probably end up being which one is released first Tongue  Though it looks like when you give Denim Revolution extra potassium they get really blue!  Do you have pics of the bushes of both?  Thanks again!

No bush photos yet, Chris. I plan to get bush photos of every new variety in the future. Cindy and I recently talked about how to photograph them attractively. When photographed, bushes cannot be in front of other bushes as they are in the greenhouse because the shape and leaves are lost in the green leafy background. We are thinking of setting up a pedestal to elevate individual bushes so that they are shot against the wall of the greenhouse which gives a lighter, diffused background that allows a bush to be seen clearly.

I think that sounds great!  My favorite pictures are that of the bush and blooms, because that is essentially how we all experience these plants at home.  Plus it gives me an idea as to what my plant should look like if its grown well Tongue

My Blue Heaven is one that Cindy has to build a new web page for before we can offer it. There are only 4 available today, but at some point it will go up on the store today or tomorrow. Yikes!

Do you think you could graft  My Blue Heaven and Winter Lights on the same plant?  The flowers have similar form and size, it would be awesome to have the dark flowers of MBH contrasting the lighter blue flowers of WL.

Chris, those 2 could be grafted on the same plant and I agree that it would be pretty. Their growth habit and leaves are a little different which could be the drawback to getting a pleasing final result. Honestly, I have not done a lot of these multi-grafted plants but one of our customers does do it because of space limitations and he likes the results.

Some photos of MBH from today.  Note, It has been a Hot Hot Humid sumer so far.  It is still a strong color even in these temps (mid 90's heat index well over 100)  Also, it is 7.5"

One more of the bush.  I have not done anything to it at all.  Just let it grow.  I am trying to make a standard with it.  So far so good.  The leaves are huge!
