Norm I love Tony the Tiger - I am very curious to see what it does when summer heat hits...
Great points Charlie and Erny on drip systems, if there is anyone who needs it it would be me. Once I am done digging and planting all around my property that would be a possible project for next year. I think I am on track this year to have dug up enough dirt by summer to have put in a swimming pool. It's crazy!!!
First bloom ever for me of Ingenue and WOW! it is Cindy's Heart but with a beautiful and soft ivory/yellow. These pictures don't do it justice, I am really impressed to say the least...

Darren, it's great to see those blooms popping up all over. The drip system is really easy to install. The only tools you need are a hole punch and a pair of scissors. Let me know when you're ready and I'll drive up there and we can have it done in a couple of hours. Get it done before your next trip to Hawaii and you'll be amazed how good everything will look when you get back.

Erny you just made my day with your kind offer! I think what has me really intimidated is that I foresee having to lay new pipes in various parts of my yards to hookup the drip lines as the water pressure here is not the best. I tried attaching some drip lines last year to existing sprinkler head pipes but it failed as the shared water pressure was too low and maybe only half of the drip line produced water. I need to do more research to see how best to approach this with so many plants now to water/feed (near 150?) though maybe I'm approaching this all wrong and it is much simpler than I am visualizing it.
The time saved from weekly feeding would be so nice....

Some nice blooms today on some "oldies": Special FX, Bessie, Jazz, Rainbow Christie, and Cindy's heart.

The winds were really something here today - worst since that windstorm Dec 2011 but fortunately only lasted 10 hours. Was tough watching the tall ones bend down way more than I thought they could but they seem ok. I'll know better tomorrow... Faucets for the drip line - that is easier. How many plants can one line handle? I have one faucet for my entire front yard which is got to be between 40-50 plants alone. Also does the length of the drip line also effect the water pressure down the line? It would be one heck of a long line to hit all five planters unless we can install some sort of hose splitters where you can have maybe two hoses come out of one and then attach the timers and injectors to each divergent hose? Not sure if that is feasible? Plus I would want the ability to use my faucets to hose spray as needed without detaching every time and switching hoses. Next time at your house I am going to really investigate your set up a lot more. Can't wait! Love Special FX today! Farmer D |

I am really impressed with some of your SoCal gardens. I can't believe how your plants look compared to mine. Not even close. I need to get with the program and 'wake' them up in spring I think so I can enjoy them earlier like some of you guys.

Erny this answers my question for sure as now I can see how it will work even off of just one faucet for my whole front yard. My only other question then is can I have a faucet where I can simultaneously use both my garden hose and drip lines with both being connected at the same time? If so this is a go for sure and I would probably do it once I have all my spring shipment plants planted so probably somewhere in July is my guess. Erny your Climax is already in impressive form - love the brightness of colors. I have been very impressed with the vigor and strength of my Climax since getting it a couple years ago. Speaking of impressive colors, Rodeo Drive is just getting better by the bloom. I kind of see it looking like a giant pansy flower which is just insane! That dark burgundy eye that is so shiny surrounded by magenta has really got me hooked. Farmer D |

Chris that Queen Victoria bloom is right up your alley - the colors are very intriguing! I look forward to more blooms from her. It also seems like a really nice one to use on crosses. Have fun!
