So far, all of my rare foliage plants have retained their foliage.

I walked around our stock plant area of plants that are at least 2 years old and found lots of varieties of Fascinating Foliage still showing markedly different leaves. 3 lobes is what makes them different, and among the 3 lobed varieties there is quite a lot of individual difference in how deep the lobes are and other features.

One of the best and most attractive as far as foliage goes is Midnight Dream but also Molten Copper, Still Water, Wakanisha, Orange Truffle, Red Buttons, Daddy's Angel, Jungle Fire, Thunder Egg, Glitz and Glitter, and Sea Spray all continue to show the Fascinating Foliage quite well. No doubt others show the FF leaves also but these are the ones I noticed on a quick walk through. The FF varieties are new in the last couple of years and we still have more to learn about them but they are doing fine so far.

Ironically, Creme de Cacao, which is the parent used to hybridize the Fascinating Foliage, is one of the least dramatic of the FF type and can develop more normal looking leaves over time. The 3 lobed trait actually comes from Key Lime Pie, which is one of the parents of Creme de Cacao but I decided to use Creme de Cacao to hybridize with due to the many other color possibilities of its second parent, Misfire, as well as its larger flower size compared to Key Lime Pie.

I'm not sure that this is the right place for this question but I figured this might get the most visibility. We just got rid of our PC that ran Windows XP and now have a Mac. It has an "i photos" button but doesn't provide the same editing options that I was using on Photoscape on the PC. Specifically I can find nothing in the editing section that allows one to resize photos in the manner in which I had become accustomed to doing on the Photoscape program. Can anyone who uses this program walk me through the process of getting a photo on, resizing it properly, and posting it on the Forum?  My knowledge of computers and such is quite limited.

Paul, I hope your plants survive their ordeal.

Erny, there are many programs available for Mac similar to the Photoscape one you used with your PC but really you don't need one because Macs come with a very useful program called Preview (as well as the iPhoto you already have). With Preview you can select the part of the photo you want, then crop the rest out, then resize the photo however you want, and save the photo with a new name and a resolution of your choice. It can do lots of other stuff such as alter sharpness and contrast of the open photo. The controls are easy to use once you experiment with them to see what they do.

To use Preview, find the photo file on your Mac, highlight it, and double click it and it will automatically open in Preview. Look at the top left corner of the screen and you should see "Preview" next to the apple icon. From there you can click the "Tools" menu and then choose "Select Tool" and click it. A X will appear on the photo and you then hold the left mouse button down while dragging the X around to form a rectangle around that part of the photo you want to keep. Once you are satisfied open the Tools menu again and this time click on "Crop". The part of the photo outside of the rectangle you drew will disappear.

To resize the photo open the Tools menu again and choose "Adjust Size" and then use this to create the size you want the photo to be when opened to its full size. Then to save this before posting to the forum you select the File menu (instead of Tool menu) click on "Save As" and then type in a name if you want to rename it, then use the slider control at the bottom of the same "Save As" window to set the kb size of the photo. Remember, it has to be less than 400 kb to post it in the forum. Then click the "Save" button on the same screen and you are done. Pay attention to where on the computer it is being saved to. The default is to the Desktop but you can also specify a folder. You will need to remember where it is when posting to the forum.

If you want to learn to use iPhoto to do the same things, write to Cindy at office and she can guide you through it. Meanwhile, Preview will get the job done easily once you've done it a couple of times.

Any questions?

Thanks Charlie. Unfortunately I can't seem to bring up anything that says Preview or even anything with the Apple logo in the corner within the iPhoto window. Does photo file refer to the listing of "Photos" in the iPhoto window? This brings up the photos that I imported from the camera to the Mac yesterday and today but nothing about Preview.

Erny, Preview is a separate program outside of iPhoto. Once you have used iPhoto to upload the photos from the camera it is harder to get them into Preview. Cindy just told me she will send you by email instructions on using iPhoto since the photos are already in that program.

Fantastic blooms Erny, Looks like your Silver Dragon is a crazy bloomer like mine Smiley   I wonder if your blooms will start looking like mine when the weather cools off.

Also IAWL and seedling "Tidal Flux"  nice upright bush, blooms alot and the blooms although are miniature have a deep blue color and last 3-4 days.  Since my Blue Ballerina is gone, this seedling has filled that niche for me Smiley

Great blooms, Erny! I don't recall having seen Rose Quartz here before.

Very colorful, Chris - seems like you get blooms regularly with the indoor setup.
