Would she be fine in full inland California sun?  I read that she is heat and sun tolerant like Gwen Mary, but I wanted to know if she is THAT sun tolerant. Smiley  Anyone else have one in these conditions?

Mine are all in humid heat (greenhouse) so I don't know about the drier heat of inland CA. Young At Heart and Long Tall Sally are all from the same cross of President x Gwen Marie and all are extra vigorous. It would be interesting to know how they would do in hot, sunny and dry conditions. Would you like to be start a "test garden" for them if I send you some plants?   Cheesy

I am always willing to do experimentation, so I would be more than happy to do that for you Wink  I also bought a 4' Illuminati that I will be testing for you.  I put that CV on the porch where it only gets morning sunlight, so it will be in the same conditions as my other fancy varieties

It was 106 yesterday and Passion Play was in full sun almost all day.  Looked great, not drooping at all.  She has buds, so we will see how she blooms in this mojave desert heat Smiley

Passion Play has proven to be very heat tolerant. The funny thing about the varieties that are heat tolerant is that they also seem to be more tolerant of cold temps as well. At least that has been my experience.

That is an interesting observation, Doll. First Love is the other variety that came out of that same cross of President x Gwen Mary. It is also extra vigorous, sun loving, and a strong survivor for the garden. There is something about President that has made it one of the 2 standard red hibiscus for landscape plantings and that something apparently can be passed on to offspring.
