San Diego Sun

This variety was new for 2011 but is really impressing us now as we watch the many blooms it has both inside our house and in the HVH greenhouse. Cosmic Gold x Simple Pleasures. The flowers are more yellow in summer but have a nice peach color in winter. Running a little small at 7 inches in the house but this one can get 1-2 inches larger in good conditions. It looks to be one of those bushes that makes many, many stems (and flowers on all stems) as it gets older and larger.

Wow Charlie,
Thanks for showing more pics of this one. I really like that trait of blooming all over every stem! This one is a great yellow.

This is my first San Diego Sun bloom. Nicely ruffled flower on a great bush.

I like that a lot John, you have a fantastic colection of cv's. I am hoping to add a few to mine next year when my friend returns from the States, I really like the paler colours and this one may be on my list.

David, I think the colors will be more like the ones Charlie posted once it warms up for good here. The buds on my San Diego Sun have been slowly developing since January. So they have been exposed to many chilly nights. This was one I kept outside except on very cold nights.

San Diego Sun has become the tallest bush I have and is branching out very nicely. Blooms have been lasting 3 days so far. This is a 2nd day bloom.

Ours in the house is our tallest plant too, John, and it's younger than most of the others. Fast grower! Our flowers seemed to be more yellow and white and bigger in heat, then more orange and smaller as it got cooler. In Texas you may get more of the big yellow and white flowers until fall.
