Hi, everyone in this forum.

As I know that everyone will be in home due to the covid - 19 pandemic, in this time we get much time to spend time with our family members and our favourite Hibiscus plants...

I am also enjoying daily with my garden varieties , caring them, watering, fertilizing, cleaning the mealy bugs...

It is a very nice time for us to engage in gardening and today I got remembered about this Cultivar called "Misfire"

As many of you in the forum knows that this Cultivar produced many good Cultivars in the Hibiscus family which has lead to many superb cultivar.

I would like to know about the history of this Cultivar and its growth habit and how floriferous it is. Also like to see different photos of this variety ... So if somebody knows about this Cultivar please share it here. I think Mr. Charles Black has many experience with this Cultivar .

Happy growing Hibiscus and happy gardening.....

This is shaping up to be a year like no other. Lots of worry and stress for everyone! 'Inner Peace' was blooming in our greenhouse today, and it seems like just the message we all need right now.

We're getting a lot of customer email asking us to ship hibiscus plants now while people are stuck at home with nothing to do. So we're doing our best to get as many orders out as fast as we can. We just started shipping this week, and some plants aren't ready to ship yet, but we're shipping everything we can to all the places that are warm enough.

Charlie and I,  as well as our workers and their families want to thank you so much for supporting us during this scary time! We are fortunate to have an online agricultural business with a spacious enough greenhouse to afford us all extreme social distancing while we work. We pack all orders using gloves, disinfectants and sanitizers. UPS will drop the orders off at your door, no signature required unless you ask us to arrange that. So we are able to keep taking and shipping orders all over the US.

To all of you who have stuck with us through so much for so many years, our sincerest THANK YOU!!!!! You have our wishes and prayers that all of you stay safe and healthy for however long this lasts!

Charlie, I couldn't agree more. I like Floral Bliss so much that I have three of them in the ground. All three are excellent upright bushes with abundant blooms despite the fact that they are in three separate "micro-environments". Anyone who doesn't have this one is really missing out.

I'm glad you reminded me about King Midas, as I would like to work with it some more in hybridizing.

I have a photo of King Midas that measured 9 inches that day. 11 inches is very exceptionally large for hibiscus, you only see them this size a few times a year if you're lucky. The conditions have to be just right, with plenty of fertilizer being given to the plant to get this kind of size.

Sure, below are a couple of other photos of Silver Moon. Please notice the unusual leaves that we now call "Fascinating Foliage". We have developed a whole line of hibiscus with this type of different, and to some very interesting, leaves. We have flowers in almost all colors growing on Fascinating Foliage bushes.

I'm also posting below the Silver Moon photos 2 more photos of our most recent silver colored flowers. This one is called Silver Lining and it too features Fascinating Foliage. Notice how far we have come in increasing the intensity of the silver color - almost looks metallic when you see it in person.

It's fun to think up crosses, isn't it? I do so also but have learned after many years that it can be much harder to make it happen than it is to imagine it.

One of the challenges of hybridizing is that most flowers do not set seed well or even not at all. You must find those varieties that will set seed and work with them to get to your results.

Another challenge is to have both flower varieties you want to cross open blooms on the same day. Both a fresh flower and fresh pollen are needed to successfully make seeds. This does not always happen the way one wants it to.

The extreme process that was used to make some of my successful varieties involved damaging and possibly killing the plant that the seed pods developed on. I don't plan to do that again as the more natural way of hybridizing appeals to me more.

This Cultivar is so different looking for me.... It has a yellow eye with gold/bronze coloured petals , that looks so different. Does anyone got 11 inch bloom from this one? I like to see the different pictures of this variety.
