Dave, Brassy Blond improves on the City Slicker bush, due to the influence of Creme de Cacao. It does not have the 3 lobed leaves that some Creme de Cacao offspring have, but CCacao helped the bush of City Slicker by giving Brassy Blond a more upright bush that does not have the same tendency to flop over as City Slicker can. It's not a great bush because it is somewhat open in form but not bad either. The flower is the main attraction - for me it is unique and eye catching in the sunlight.

Thanks Charlie.  I love that color combination and that distinctive eye.   Very nice flower form too.  It looks great on my computer screen, so I can just imagine how great it would look with some sunlight hitting it.

Yeah, as someone mentioned earlier, some varieties are more photogenic than others. So much so that the actual flowers are not quite as pretty as expected. But for other varieties photos never seem to do them justice and seeing the real thing is the only way to fully appreciate it. That's one reason we bring every bloom we can find to the Open Houses so that people can see them up close and personal.

Brassy Blond is one that reflects sunlight in a way that makes it seem to glow. Some of the other seedlings of City Slicker also showed this trait. Not sure what it is but it makes for an eye catching bloom when seen in sunlight.

I think Uli mentioned something about how you could see little hairs on the blooms (trichromes) I bet the more of those you have the more sheen a flower has :)

I must of had this one in my shopping cart about 12 times.  But decided that I had enough to over winter!  Maybe next year!
