Title: Blue Over You Post by: Bradley on April 15, 2015, 01:04:03 PM I have some new leaves growing from the very bottom of this plant, where the stem meets the soil. My question is if this a grafted plant or not? I don't want to clip the new growth if it is own root.

Take a close look at the new leaves growing in and see what type of shape they have. Pride of Hankins is usually the type of rootstock nursery's use to graft hibiscus. You should be able to tell right away if you see the bottom leaves are jagged and different than the true leaves you see at the top. If you can determine that the leaves are from the rootstock cut them off right away and continue to watch that area throughout the summer because they sometimes grow back and will pull the much needed nutrients from the top of the graft.
