Here is 'Satsuma' trying to hold up to the 103 degree heat today.

John I totally agree - every year time just goes by faster and faster.  Lovely blooms too!

Geneva that Satsuma is really impressive - impressive like this heat today!  Wow - another scorcher for sure, at least here it didn't get to 100F (but really really close).  What is nice about these really hot days is AG fades really fast so by early afternoon it is already sporting a nice orange and yellow look - a lot of nice ones from her today...

Big Oaf in the afternoon assuming the proper colors - lots of fun!

Nice depth of color on Bonnie Lass as it is getting fried by the heat today...

David thank you for the kind compliment yesterday - I can't wait for yours' to start blooming soon.  Also I enjoyed your Chads experience so I got another one today - not as perfect but still doing the above the wall action...

Great photos everyone. Darren, aren't you leaving for Kauai soon? Be on the lookout for "lobster claw" varieties of Heliconia and for Jade vine. They can be pretty spectacular over there. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get them to grow here.
Some of today's blooms:  Secret Heart
                                   Vin Electrique
                                   Flickering Flame

Erny and Darren, just fantastic!

Paul, its all looking good!

Standouts today:

Magic Crystal: never get tired of this combination of colors on a VERY prolific plant.  Grows and blooms like cinnamon girl, but with much brighter colors.

Torch Song: Huge bloom 8 inches, and excellent color.  Fly me to the Moon pollen went strait to this one!

Winter Lights x Black voodoo seedling, it has alot of potential as a breeder I think.  The color is a nice  red, but with blue and brown genes.  Interesting result, much like "The right stuff" which also has blue and brown parents (Renn Blue x Wallflower) and is red.  Come to think of it Black voodoo has Renn blue as a parent, coincidence?

I walked around our stock plant area of plants that are at least 2 years old and found lots of varieties of Fascinating Foliage still showing markedly different leaves. 3 lobes is what makes them different, and among the 3 lobed varieties there is quite a lot of individual difference in how deep the lobes are and other features.

One of the best and most attractive as far as foliage goes is Midnight Dream but also Molten Copper, Still Water, Wakanisha, Orange Truffle, Red Buttons, Daddy's Angel, Jungle Fire, Thunder Egg, Glitz and Glitter, and Sea Spray all continue to show the Fascinating Foliage quite well. No doubt others show the FF leaves also but these are the ones I noticed on a quick walk through. The FF varieties are new in the last couple of years and we still have more to learn about them but they are doing fine so far.

Ironically, Creme de Cacao, which is the parent used to hybridize the Fascinating Foliage, is one of the least dramatic of the FF type and can develop more normal looking leaves over time. The 3 lobed trait actually comes from Key Lime Pie, which is one of the parents of Creme de Cacao but I decided to use Creme de Cacao to hybridize with due to the many other color possibilities of its second parent, Misfire, as well as its larger flower size compared to Key Lime Pie.

I'm not sure that this is the right place for this question but I figured this might get the most visibility. We just got rid of our PC that ran Windows XP and now have a Mac. It has an "i photos" button but doesn't provide the same editing options that I was using on Photoscape on the PC. Specifically I can find nothing in the editing section that allows one to resize photos in the manner in which I had become accustomed to doing on the Photoscape program. Can anyone who uses this program walk me through the process of getting a photo on, resizing it properly, and posting it on the Forum?  My knowledge of computers and such is quite limited.

Erny

Paul, I hope your plants survive their ordeal.

Title: Re: October Flower Photos of the Day
Post by: Charlie on October 06, 2012, 11:23:19 AM
Erny, there are many programs available for Mac similar to the Photoscape one you used with your PC but really you don't need one because Macs come with a very useful program called Preview (as well as the iPhoto you already have). With Preview you can select the part of the photo you want, then crop the rest out, then resize the photo however you want, and save the photo with a new name and a resolution of your choice. It can do lots of other stuff such as alter sharpness and contrast of the open photo. The controls are easy to use once you experiment with them to see what they do.

To use Preview, find the photo file on your Mac, highlight it, and double click it and it will automatically open in Preview. Look at the top left corner of the screen and you should see "Preview" next to the apple icon. From there you can click the "Tools" menu and then choose "Select Tool" and click it. A X will appear on the photo and you then hold the left mouse button down while dragging the X around to form a rectangle around that part of the photo you want to keep. Once you are satisfied open the Tools menu again and this time click on "Crop". The part of the photo outside of the rectangle you drew will disappear.

To resize the photo open the Tools menu again and choose "Adjust Size" and then use this to create the size you want the photo to be when opened to its full size. Then to save this before posting to the forum you select the File menu (instead of Tool menu) click on "Save As" and then type in a name if you want to rename it, then use the slider control at the bottom of the same "Save As" window to set the kb size of the photo. Remember, it has to be less than 400 kb to post it in the forum. Then click the "Save" button on the same screen and you are done. Pay attention to where on the computer it is being saved to. The default is to the Desktop but you can also specify a folder. You will need to remember where it is when posting to the forum.

If you want to learn to use iPhoto to do the same things, write to Cindy at office and she can guide you through it. Meanwhile, Preview will get the job done easily once you've done it a couple of times.

Any questions?

Charlie

Post by: Ernest on October 06, 2012, 11:54:20 AM
Thanks Charlie. Unfortunately I can't seem to bring up anything that says Preview or even anything with the Apple logo in the corner within the iPhoto window. Does photo file refer to the listing of "Photos" in the iPhoto window? This brings up the photos that I imported from the camera to the Mac yesterday and today but nothing about Preview.

Erny

Title: Re: October Flower Photos of the Day
Post by: Charlie on October 06, 2012, 12:00:46 PM
Erny, Preview is a separate program outside of iPhoto. Once you have used iPhoto to upload the photos from the camera it is harder to get them into Preview. Cindy just told me she will send you by email instructions on using iPhoto since the photos are already in that program.

Fantastic blooms Erny, Looks like your Silver Dragon is a crazy bloomer like mine :)   I wonder if your blooms will start looking like mine when the weather cools off.

Also IAWL and seedling "Tidal Flux"  nice upright bush, blooms alot and the blooms although are miniature have a deep blue color and last 3-4 days.  Since my Blue Ballerina is gone, this seedling has filled that niche for me :)

Hi Patrick, it must be getting cool where you live for Dr Strangelove to have that look. I kind of like the rosy glow with the brown edge although it is not "strange" the way it can be in summer heat.

Charlie

Hi Charlie!  The bulbs I use in the reflectors over the tables are standard garden variety 23W fluorescent bulbs (the curly ones/equals 100W incandescent). There are 9 bulbs per table (6 inside/3 facing out). The hibiscus seem to like them (they're green and flowering)... And if they're happy, I'm VERY happy. I have everything hooked up to timers (on at 7:00AM, off at 10:00PM), so they're getting 15 hours of indoor light plus whatever sun comes in through the west facing doorwalls. I also hung two 4ft/4 bulb T8 fixtures tonight... If they like that, I'll get two more (each T8 adds about $20.00 to the monthly electric bill for the same about of time as the light tables).

So in addition to all the light I can afford to provide, and the heat (included in rent/usually 75ºF to 80º when it's above 40ºF outside, even with the thermostat off), the HVH houseplant formula is the final essential element... If my hibs weren't getting superior nutrition, I doubt that they would be doing half as well as they have been indoors (Oh, and can't forget the Kontos!).

Deb  :D

Had a few blooms today,Peppermint Drop Cosmic and Acapulco Gold I just need the temperature to stay a bit lower and hopefully I will have many more, its been a very hard summer for my garden with record high temperatures, I have really enjoyed and been so envious all summer of the beauties that have been on show.

Deb your indore shrine is in the wrong section, you put it in the October pic of the day and it should be in ''We are all a bit crazy'' section haha.

Off to Cambodia tomorrow so I will write when I am back.

Erny

Hi Erny - what I simply do is select all the photos I want to save in iPhoto and copy/paste them to my desktop.  There when you double click on each of them they come up in preview mode and you can resize them.  I used to be able to very easily resize them in the save as function as I am moving all my photos to my hibiscus file folders to keep everything organized for future browsing by me of my saved pics.  You can copy/paste to anywhere on your computer and when you open up the saved file it will come up in preview mode.

That changed when I recently downloaded Apple's new operating system Mountain Lion and they eliminated that save as option in preview so I purchased an inexpensive resizing program, in this case Inkwell and I resize all pics I am saving through that.  I find it is important to organize and save all pics for future reference and questions so it is easy to find them again.  Really helpful with bush shots for growth and bloom shots for effects from seasonal weather.

Great photos Erny! I'm going to start calling you Farmer E! LOL  ;D

Well all of my hibs have been officially moved indoors for over a week now until the spring. The majority of them have been doing rather well. I'm finding it to be a challenge to get accurately colored photos due to the indoor and grow lights. Still trying to find that perfect spot.  ;)

1) Voodoo Magic - This one was a lot lighter than previous blooms. Interesting...
2) Wakanisha - My first bloom for this CV.

Great photos Deb. I particularly like Gwen Mary, Rudolph, and Solar Eclipse.
We're having some hot Santa Ana winds today so conditions are less than ideal for photography outdoors. But Bright Hope still looks pretty good on day 3. Also Voodoo Magic, Donna Lynn, Vin Beaujolais, Silver Dragon, and Climax.

Wow great blooms Deb and Erny!  I am really liking Solar Eclipse and Bright Hope.

Here are a few from today.

Ring of Fire:  This is the first bloom ive had on the plant, large bloom with fancy tufting.  It had a bunch of buds till I accidentally snapped the tip off it.  At least I get to see two blooms until having to wait for the plant to regrow.  Chariots of Fire is seedling off Ring of Fire, I hope it bodes will for ROF being a good bloomer.

Seedling:  This one seems to have gotten alot better since the first few blooms which had poor form and color.  It has tons of buds and has bloomed several times now.  I haven't seen too make CVs that have pink spotting, which this seedling has.

Silver Dragon, Today's bloom was very nice, this one never slows down!  It has been blooming steadily since February of this year, with no signs of slowing down!

Georgia's Pearl is a prolific bloomer--constantly putting out large flat blooms that often measure 9-10 inches. Also Cindy's heart, Electric Orange, Palm Springs, Silver Dragon, and California Beauty.

Erny
wow that's an amazing sunshower bush.my sunshower tends to grow very tall an lanky do u cut yours back to get it so full wasn't sure if it lacks to be pruned mines is six foot tall already in a large pot

Rebecca, I've done very little pruning on the Sun Shower bush. Last year I cut some branches off near the base but that's about it. It seems to be in a good location and has been in the ground for about 4 or 5 years.

For some reason a few of my plants put out blooms today that look very different from any they have had previously. Vin Electrique and Winter Lights both show a much darker and more solid purple color. Strawberry Fields Forever (not pictured here) showed a solid red flower where previously there was very heavy white spotting on the outer third of the petals. All three of these are in different locations with different sun exposure. Others looking more normal include Pepper Spray (although somewhat beat up by the winds), Summer shore, and Silver Dragon.

Deb, that Red Light is a real stunner.
Rebecca, until a few years ago I had very few blooms on my hibiscus plants because I was a complete ignoramus and never fertilized at all. Once I discovered the HVH website, I started taking proper care of the plants and they rewarded me with blooms. As far as I can recall, the Sun Shower blooms were a little smaller than they are now. I would think that yours would do quite well in the ground there in Florida.

Erny, your Silver Dragon is a blooming machine!  Really liking how it looks.  Its cool how the blue and purple colors get dark as the night temps start dipping into the 40s and 50s.

A few from me today:

Magic Crystal, looking very nice today.  Blooming as a mini, but the colors are great.

Thunder egg, this might be the look it gives under my growing conditions.  Can't really complain as it is fantastic!

Seedling, Tidal Flux, deep blue mini that blooms well, sets seed and lasts 4 days here!

Great blooms everyone!

Deb - That Red Light is a stunning bloom!
Erny - Everything's looking great for you!
David - Great Cranberry Muffin! Can't wait til mine blooms!
Chris - That Magic Crystal is amazing! And can't wait til my Thunder Egg blooms too!

Well my Hibs have been showing their displeasure of being moved inside by yellowing some of their leaves, and worst of all dropping some of their buds. The majority of them seem to be handling the change of environment pretty well... but a couple have been stubborn brats and dropped almost all of their leaves... Burnt Saffron and Summer Fun in particular. Why can't they understand that I did it for their own good? WHY?!? LOL

Anyways, I have collected a few shots from the past few days.

Satsuma - Day 1 and Day 2 of the same bloom. Incidentally, this CV has handled the move indoors the best of all that I have. The blooms are noticeably smaller, but it hasn't yellowed a single leaf!
Scarlet Beauty - Wow! Such a stunner![/center]

Rebecca, those are beautiful photos of Sun Shower. It has always been an excellent flower but has the reputation of being a sprawling and difficult bush when grown in pots. In fact, I thought it always had such a bush until I saw one at Ernie's house in southern California growing in the ground. Ernie's was huge and had shaped up well over time.

However, I still think it is one of the wilder and harder to manage bushes when grown in a pot. I have grown and sold many of them over the past decade but not too many in recent years as the quality of bushes we offer has become better and better. There are several varieties nowadays that have similar color schemes but are more attractive as bushes - such as the one we just featured in the October newsletter named White Hot.

The 2 flowers you show are both Sun Showers, not root stock. Sun Showers is rarely grafted because it grows on its own roots just fine. Sun Showers is like many of the hibiscus flowers that feature yellow markings - in hot weather the yellow comes out fully but in cooler weather the flower is mostly solid red/orange.

In any case, I am sure you will enjoy the fine flowers of Sun Showers and thank you for showing these.

Charlie

Nice photo of the garden this morning, if you look down the bottom you can see there is a house being built that will now overlook a little, I will have to find away of blocking for a bit of privacy. Maybe I will move things about a bit, in the second photo you can see Melon Melangi at 7 feet and the seedling next to the Plumeria at 8feet so it wont be to difficult.

David, I am amazed at how large your plants get in pots.

John maybe its to do with the actual Tropical conditions here, and fortunately being on a roof top its not all of them.

I am having major problems with root rot here and have lost and am losing about half my collection. At least now I am getting on top of it and can at least rectify for the future. All new plants, cuttings [which I have about 30] grafts etc will be growing in about 40% Perlite.
The one thing I cant really control is the heat of the water I have to give [heat helps the bad Pathogens apparantly], having done  a bit of research on the Net its recommended never to water plants at anything above 15c to 18c, well I have no chance of that here, sometimes the water out the tap is about 24c and sometimes higher. Troi oi as they say here haha what a game we play.

Hi Rebecca
I'v had my plant for about 3 years , sometimes the buds will start off lighter green then darken as they get bigger . some of them fall off while they are real small they will come out real light green almost yellow . I think the plant isn't getting enough light or they also drop them sometimes when your plant is young .

My seedling Baby Mia x Modern Art, this one is a heavy bloomer and has a nice compact growth habit.  So far it seems pretty nice for a pink CV anyways ;)

Magic Crystal Twins, nice color and form too bad they are mini sized today.

Thunder Egg, looking really spotted and fantastic!

Returned from a trip today and found several nice blooms. Some appear to be on day 2 or 3.
Vin Electrique is certainly day 2 or 3.
My Blue Heaven is becoming one of my favorites. The only frustrating thing is that the photos never look as good as the real thing.
Rainbow Christie is a real eye catcher with its 9" blooms
Chariots of Fire is proving to be a prolific bloomer despite the small size of the new bush.

Hi everyone, I am really enjoying all of your gorgeous flowers! :)

I have a long ways to go cause I only have 4 plants, but wanted to share a couple of pics of my wild allure from today. I bought the wild allure and party girl in 4-inch pots from HVH this spring and even though they haven’t had a lot of blooms, the few they have had were very pretty.

I am a picture geek, so I won’t even tell you how many pics I have taken of this one flower today, but thought you might like to see a few of its stages.

Pic #1 was taken at 9:40am
Pic #2 at 10:06am
Pic #3 at 11:11am
Pic #4 at 2:24pm when I moved it for some last rays of sun 8)

I love the way they constantly change!!

Hi Everyone!

Good to be back, I really enjoyed viewing so many beautiful pictures while away from home.  It's great to see some posts from members who haven't been on this topic before - so a big welcome!

First off I apologize up front for the poor quality of my pictures for the next few weeks as my water proof camera wasn't exactly water proof while doing some light snorkeling.  Hopefully Sony won't be playing any games with replacing it so in the mean time I am using my iPhone from last decade...

Being away for 3 weeks the hibs look pretty good, had some help a few times when gone which really was clutch as the weather did the typical October thing and was extremely all over the place.  Rained twice with a heat wave sandwiched in-between.   Today we had our first Santa Ana wind event which of course was not predicted till yesterday so dry and everything a mess...

Ahhh the life of a gardener...anyways good to be back and catching up!

No doubt the plants aren't nearly as happy when I got back.  One positive though was I took all my potted plants off my porch which faces the hot afternoon sun and put them in nice shady spots while away.  They all improved quite a bit so I need to be a lot more serious about consistently lowering my shade curtain on my porch.

Wow John, your HSN is just fantastic!  I really like that one a lot and good to know it looks like that in cooler weather.  I look forward to some blooms from mine soon, it has recovered very nicely after severe dehydration during summer.

Chris another awesome seedling bloom.  Again those are some color combos I could never have dreamed up.  So interesting to see, your sport is really nice too!

Erny great pics, your T Princess is looking something special today.  The Santa Ana winds died down for us around midnight last night and it has been still, super dry and hot today (89F).  Perfect weather for supernova spraying...

It looks like my iPad takes much better pics than the iPhone, just so hard maneuvering around the garden with such a large item.

For anyone who has thought about Crystal Pink I really am liking this one a ton more now that I moved it.  The bush is filling out very nicely and the blooms are just awesome.  That spiraling white eye surrounding by a mostly solid yet slightly speckled pink.

A really happy sight to see was coming back to a Prosperity plant that finally decided to leaf.  I think it needed some cooler weather to do it as it's in a hot and sunny afternoon spot on my driveway.  I would never have been able to know this is what it wanted until it happened.  I did place a 70% shade cover over it for two months after moving it but I must have removed it too soon or maybe it would not have made a difference.

Wow it took 4 months to finally come back after replanting it.  Weird thing is that I never cut the main root, just moved it to the right by only 6 inches and it hated it beyond anything I ever thought...I know it's kind of hard to see it with two geraniums flanking her.

Also interesting is my Bonnie Lass.  I am quite sure now that it hates direct, hot sunlight.  You can see in my planter picture below it is the only one not happy with few leaves that are all yellow.  It did the exact same thing last year and that was with the clay soil prison hole it was in like all my hibs were.

It looks great until the hot weather arrives and then the yellow leaves appear and the more you water the worse it gets.  I can see how easy it can be to overwater in this situation not realizing it needs to be in much different circumstances to re-establish itself and then be able to absorb a lot of water during the growing season like a normal, healthy hibiscus should.

What is dangerous here is that the plants surrounding it, COF on the left and Rainbow Sherbet on right are not getting enough water since I swiveled my sprinkler head away from that area for BL.  I have been heavily watering COF and now a bunch of new leaves are appearing down low where it has been bare for about a year now.  Even RS has slowly been losing leaves in the middle for quite some time too which I'm betting is due to lack of water as well.

So guess who is getting moved to the backyard to a nice shady and temperate spot?

Tutti Frutti must be a pretty tasty flower I guess.  Don't rate this one by this pic as the plant is in recovery mode and the blooms I know are going to improve a lot soon.

Darren, it's good to hear that your Prosperity is coming back. Do you have a drip system for any of your planting areas? I have installed several and cut off the sprinklers completely in those areas with good effect so far. With the in-line EZ Flow fertilizer modules it makes maintenance easy and hassle-free.

Title: Re: October Flower Photos of the Day
Post by: farmer d on October 26, 2012, 08:27:40 PM
Hi Erny,

Thanks for the positive input for my Prosperity.  I am excited to see it start growing again - this plant had so much vigor beforehand so I expect a fast rebound.

As for the drip line idea I currently have two planters with it.  The problem I ran into when I tried out a few of my bigger planters last year is water pressure.  I am using a previously installed sprinkler system that for each zone has quite a few heads so using one for the drip line and turning off some of the other heads I thought would keep the pressure about the same but it didn't.  The end result was the latter half of those drip lines the water wasn't reaching to.  And that is without any pressure regulator attached to the drip connection.

My thinking is I would have to add new water valves just for the drip lines but I already have 8 valves and the expense and time to dig and place more pipes...the sprinklers are good for me.  I actually prefer the sprinklers because I can water a lot of things besides the hibs at one time so cost and time savings there.  The negative is I can't add in a fertilizing injector which would be really cool.

Darren, when you have an irrigation system that does not have enough water flow for all emitters the easiest solution is to install pressure compensating emitters - often designated with the initials PC. These insure that all emitters on the line emit the same amount of water. They cost a little more than regular emitters but if there is sufficient water they do work well. If there is just not enough pressure or water then they can't fix that but they do a good job of spreading water evenly along the drip line.

Great photos everyone! Ernie I particularly like your Blue Ballerina and Gentle on My Mind shots.

Thank you Erny and Charlie for the information and suggestions.  I will look into the pc emitters, not sure if that is what I had on them originally or if it was something different.

Also dug up Bonnie Lass today and I am really surprised to see all the main roots I saw when I replanted it rotted and gone.  At least there are more small feeder roots this time and an actual small rootball.  Overall it was much worse off than I thought - yikes!

Although the photo does not quite show it my Cosmic Gold has never looked so golden, really stands out on finaly a nice dull day in the garden.

David, thanks for the garden shot. Seeing your garden always makes my day.
Darren and Charlie, I started out using the adjustable emitters and they work fine on relatively short lines but not so well on the longer ones with lots of emitters. I have replaced a lot of the latter with the pressure compensating droppers and they seem to work better there.
Some blooms from today:
Vin Beaujolais
Ruby tuesday
A couple of different Passion flowers--great for people who like lots of butterflies.

Looks like Kristin and I are in the same boat. Figured I'd post this in case Hurricane Sandy knocks out my power for a few days. Got a nice bloom on my Deep Waters. Also carved a hibiscus pumpkin. Am I addicted or what? LOL

Happy Halloween everybody!

I hope anyone dealing with Hurricane Sandy is ok - pretty amazing to see the flooding currently taking place in Manhattan.  The flooding is bad enough but then you add in downed power lines and that is very scary.  Our thoughts are with you...

Paul - your pumpkin totally rocks!!!  I have been thinking about doing that for a few years now and I might just use yours as a template to do the same.  Totally awesome!!!!

Erny - WWWWWOOOOOOOWWWWWW Sun Showers bush is a dream!

Today was a great day with a lot of variety of blooms so beware lots of colors and pics....

Kristen, Louis and Paul - My thoughts are with you all... I hope that you and yours are all safe and warm (and dry!)

This storm is a monster... We're even getting a taste of it this far north and west (45 mph wind & freezing rain).

Paul - LOVE your hibiscus pumpkin
Darren - Awesome blooms... Welcome back!

Some blooms from the wintry North (before our power goes, too)...

Adagio
Bienvenue
Cosmic Gold
Delicia Amoris
Easter Glow

Merkity, I don't know anything about the pads. Hopefully Charlie and/or Chris can answer your question.
Darren, great pics as always. You should get viable seed from that Celadine pod but the growth from seed with plumeria is so slow that it usually isn't worth the trouble.
Deb, thanks for sharing photos of Space Oddity. I don't recall seeing it on the Forum in recent months and the multi-banded blooms are among my favorites.

Well Hurricane/Super Storm/Schizophrenic Sandy brought an interesting surprise to our area this morning. There is about an inch of snow/sleet/freezing rain out there. We weren't supposed to get snow in our area. But the next county over is predicted to get up to 2 feet of snow when all is said and done, so I guess I can't complain. Many people are far worse off than I. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who are having a harder time with this storm.

But the snow wasn't the only surprise this morning. I got a nice bloom on Scarlet Beauty this morning. (I may be having SB Triplets if the other two buds open too!) Thought it would look nice next to the snowy background.

LBJ - that is a beautiful bloom you have there but it's definitely Bright Horizon not Splash.  Nice way to end the season before getting them inside.

Erny - great pics as usual and I especially enjoyed viewing Donna Lynn, Slapstick, those Deep Waters triplets and Palm Springs.

Chris that's the perfect bloom for tonight - awesome!

Outstanding Caribbean Beauty today.

I am going to take back everything I said a few days ago about Bonnie Lass.  The next day after moving it I dug deep and found that the soil was bone dry down at least a foot.  In hindsight I should have realized that my new soil would dry out much more quickly than the old clay prison in that hot spot of my garden.  Any plant in those conditions would have probably died so I am categorizing in mind Bonnie Lass as more hardy a plant to have survived such harsh conditions - helps it is more mature of course too.  I'll leave it in it's new home permanently as I want to add some different color to that row of plants it came from.

Thank you Cindy and Erny and all for the thoughts and prayers for the whole eastern seaboard.  CT sustained some significant damage, but my family and friends are all ok.  My brothers house is underwater, he lives a mile from me.  But luckily he and his dog were evacuated to my house.

Yes Erny, those photos were taken in my greenhouse.
Paul, LOVE your pumpkin.  Where do you live?
