I asked about this CV a long time ago but since we have more new members , I thought I would as again.

This Plant has small tiny red flowers 2-3 inches. Its leaves are about 3 inches long and have the shape of H. rosa-sinensis.  The bush is about 3-4ft it is probably a 10 year old plant.

I thought it was psyche but the blooms seem bigger to me ( googled pictures)

Any thoughts ? I may register it and give it a name :) I want to cross with it.

Looks very similar to Psyche except it is too orange.

Hi Kerry,

It looks like Hibiscus Archeri – A very early hibiscus hybrid (H. rosa-sinensis x H. schizopetalus), which would explain the similarities to 'Psyche' and the leaves on the plant you are describing. Blooms on ‘Archeri’ are red and approximately 10cm, so that sounds like your mystery bloom as well. Here’s some more info I found:

Hi Deb

I saw Hibiscus Archeri but I do not think its this CV. it says 10cm which is 4 inches. So far the plant has 2-3 inch blooms. Its a little more compact when opening.

I will see if I can take a better look at the blooms when it starts blooming.

i looked at more pictures of psyche so I guess it may be either one of these cv's ? all well whatever it is its nice !
