Title: Possible Chariots of Fire Sport! Post by: Darkhorse on November 22, 2010, 04:20:59 PM This bloom opened today. Everything is normal, but check out the edge. Does this look like it could be a sport? Or does this happen often...?

In this late fall weather I never trust what I see in the blooms. What you have to do is the same as for any potential sport - mark the branch the flower is on with a ribbon or twist tie or something and wait for another bloom. If 2 or more flowers on that branch show the same change then it is almost certainly a genetic sport that will keep the new flower on rooted cuttings from that branch.
