Title: Christie Blue Post by: blupit007 on October 11, 2010, 07:42:16 AM Hi Charlie,
I looked for this topic but didn't see one. What is your opinion of this cv? I came across it this morning while browsing through your gallery and thought it to be a nice blue / lavender. Nice size, nice bush... But never anyone talking about it or showing any photos in photo of the month. Are there not too many around? Or have you improved this cv and replaced it? Just wondering if it will be for sale again or not. I have a thing for blues!! Thanks, Kristen Title: Re: Christie Blue Post by: Charlie on October 11, 2010, 08:01:21 AM You're right, there are not many Christi Blue plants around. It was released in 2004 when we were doing mostly grafted plants but since I shifted the emphasis to rooted plants right after that Christi Blue fell by the way since it did not root well. I do still have several big old plants of it and if I have the time this winter will graft some since it is a very nice flower and bush.
Most hibiscus flowers with blue and purple colors fade a lot when in hot direct sun but your northern climate would be good for them I think. I've been working on "blues" when hybridizing and there should be a lot more of them available in the near and long term. It's been a long road to get blue flowered hibiscus that have good bushes, color, and size but progress is being made.
