Title: May Flower Photos of the Day
Post by: DavidU on May 04, 2018, 06:45:05 AM
May is here which means its time to bring my hibiscus back out in my neck of the woods after a long winter slumber under grow lights. I have so many plants now that this process goes in phases to get the plants acclimated to the heat and sun outdoors.  All 60+ plants will be hand watered and inspected over the next couple of weeks until I can limit leaf burn and determine final garden layouts.  Then I'll install all drippers and the process gets much easier and I can sit back and enjoy the show.  I usually stake all my potted plants in the ground to avoid tipping, but this year I am digging holes and putting the pots in the ground about 2/3 of the way for many of my larger plants.

I haven't had much time to post over the winter (school and trying to find a new job) so I wanted to share some photos since last year. Since this is the "May flower photos of the day", I hope no one minds  :).  I will end though with my first bloom in May outdoors, Valentine's Day.

The grow lights do some interesting things to some of the blooms indoors.  The first photo is Spring Fever.

I wish I could grow fields of Language of Love.  It bloomed all winter under the lights and each bloom was unique.  I could probably post 50 different photos of this beautiful creation by Charlie. Here's one opening and then later on in the day.  Also Samba Dancer, Cindy's Heart, Dapple Dandy, Night Runner, and Midnight Tryst.

Girl Band is another HVH CV that did really well indoors over the winter.  I'm looking forward to it blooming like crazy this summer. Also Tahitian Green Tiger, Daisy Mae,  Tahitian Princess,  Space Oddity, My Blue Heaven, and Love Sonnet.

Looking good David hope you have a nice summer.

I'm really surprised that most of my hibiscus are still alive after being choked for year (s).
After transplanting 30 hibiscus last week,  I could not believe what I saw.
Just happy  realized it and made major changes.
