Title: I lost some of my plants in the hot Charlotte summer :( Post by: Liz on November 21, 2016, 08:42:15 AM Well hi everybody. This is my first post. I lost my Confection Perfection, Chartreuse Rose and a few others. It was just so hot and dry. I had them on a covered porch, but they wilted and died anyway. It makes me so sad - I had them for years. Are there any particular plants that do better in the heat? I want to replace the plants, but I was hoping to buy some that would hold up better in the heat. Thanks for any suggestions. Liz

Our greenhouse gets very hot, hotter than almost any outdoor environment, but we compensate for the heat by watering more. On the worst days we even water twice, once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Did you try giving more water on the hottest days? Our temps here went into triple digits, I watered 2-3 times a day and didn't lose any, but they were not happy campers either. They live on a covered porch now and are MUCH happier than in full sun.
Since I cannot afford to pay shipping on your awesome potting soil, I make an immitation from equal parts peatmoss, coir, and perlite with some time release fertilizer and worm castings, which gives me good enuf drainage to water that often without drowning |
